Positives:
More diverse food available in the UK because the leave voters assure us that they aren't really against foreigners moving here, it is just that they would rather more came from the rest of the world not just (Eastern) Europe.0 -
Because it would be political suicide to not do it now.
I also believe that it is entirely possible other EU countries are starting to want to stop free movement too (look at the noises coming out of France).
Free movement was great when we were a small block of roughly similar economies. It has been a dreadful failure since enlargement.
I honestly believe that if it's a choice between free movement and a trade deal - we will walk away from the table with no trade deal. I'm sure the US would rather we bought their cars rather than Germany's.
We will, however, get plenty of trade deals from other countries. They are probably negotiating them as I type.
Russia is not in the EU. The EU has sanctioned Russia with Mrs M's voice above all and yet Germany still sell a lot of cars to Russia and buy their gas as do we. French farmers along with other EU countries have been devastated that Russia eventually, because of the sanctions, stopped food imports from them. Trade will continue and EU countries will be very happy to sell and buy from us, just wait and see. Far too much toys being thrown out of the pram over a democratic vote. They cannot and do not always go the way you want and someone is always disappointed, unless you advocate doing away with democracy.
Australia, New Zealand and Brazil that I know of and I am nobody, are already knocking on our door"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety". - Benjamin Franklin0 -

why will more diverse foods be available because we have an inflow of doctors, engineers, scientists, entrpeneurs etc from all the countries of the world? do they eat foods not available here?0 -
Is there any data showing the data for other countries and the increase in hay fever, asthma, cancer etc? Correlation doesn't necessarily equal causation...
In turn, is there any evidence that increase in population has lead to the increased traffic pollution? Nowadays it's so much cheaper to buy and run cars so I would have thought that would have a massive impact on pollution levels.
If you carry out a quick search on google you will find masses of data to substantiate the claim. Here is once such abstract from the Telegraph.
"Air pollution stunting children's lungs, study finds
A six-year study finds children living in highly polluted parts of cities have up to 10 per cent less lung capacity than normal, with warnings the damage could be permanent"
On the second point you appear to have contradicted the argument and answered your own question at the same time.0 -
To get the thread back on a positive spin, 2 personal consequences.....
1. Won't have to work out what to spend any excess money on anymore...what a chore that was.
2. Can shelve any plans for a long/happy retirement following 40 years hard labour since leaving school at 16. How selfish was that!!
As long as we have "control of our own destiny" everything else will be just fine!

I think it's great for local theatre, now we've found out we have so many drama queens."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0

The very best thing about Brexit is we will not have the EU to blame for problems in Britain.
We can concentrate on who really is responsible.........BRITISH POLITICIENSThere will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
Everybody seems to be moaning about Brexit but it has all been positive for me so far.
My investments are all in equities and 70% of them are overseas equities. My portfolio is worth more than ever before.
I dont own a home, but if i choose to buy one in the next few years, two bed flats are now about £30k cheaper in my area.0
