Mother taken advantage of and paying to much, can I cancel her holiday bookings?

Hello,
I apologise if this is the wrong forum to ask in but I'm looking for advice on something.
My mother and her friend just booked a trip to New York yesterday for 4 days with Thomas Cook, and have been charged £2894.
I myself went to New York only a month ago with my partner and booking directly I paid £2004 for 7 days. They are getting similar flights and are staying at the exact same hotel I stayed at. Thus I know that somebody has taken complete advantage of them and they are being massively overcharged.
The ideal solution for me would be a complete cancellation of the holiday for a full refund and then I would help them book everything a lot cheaper.
Do they have any rights in this situation? It was purchased only yesterday (28th of June) and their departure date is the 7th September.
Thanks in advance,
Fatolddog.
Note: I have posted this in the Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning forum as well, I apologise for the double post but I am unsure where to post this.

I'll add that checking prices online myself before posting this I was getting quotes for £2000 so they are paying £800 over currently.
(Flights) Gotogate quoted: £1000.90
(Hotel) Venere quoted: £1078.650 -
Different companies get different rates from airlines and hotels that's why it's always a idea to shop around before bookingFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0

Yes thank you for your very constructive replies, she is 67 and has been taken advantage of by a travel agent.
I am trying to be a good son, correct her mistake and save her some money.
Are there any options?0 -

No she went to the travel agent and said I want XYZ and the agent sold her XYZ end of story
Just because you can get it cheaper elsewhere doesn't mean she was taken advantage of
For example in retail shops charge different prices for the same things it's called business
If your mum was that worried about cost she had plenty of opportunity to shop around. Your mum isn't that old tbh so really it's up to her what she pays
Your mum could ask the agent for a discount but they dont have to give it to herFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Advise her that she should shop around in future.
She hasnt been taken advantage of. The person selling the holiday would not know if your mother had been in other places first and is not responsible for finding your mum the cheapest price from their competitors.
I dont think youll be able to 'correct' this mistake. By all means try, there will probably be costs involved.0 -
Well after being on the phone for 25 minutes and spoken to Thomas Cook, they are going to refund the £800 difference based on their low price policy.
I was really hoping for some kind of consumer rights advice but I guess I'm on the wrong website.
Thanks for the help.0 -

Your not, you were told you have no consumer rights to get something cheaper, you just didn't like being told that0
