How much noise is too much noise and reasonable times.

I thought I mentioned it but can't find it now, he does some of his sawing on the balcony so the sawdust blows over the side, or at least thats what he says I saw on one occasion him dump sawdust over the side, its more he didn't realise he was doing it but he never apologised when I said it happened just seemed to react like "oh well"
But its hard to tell if he just doesn't care or just tired from having a baby or just never shows emotion.0 -
Not worth having bass in a flat...if you don't want the neighbour hearing it, don't have it on, no point having bass down low. If it's up high enough for you to hear it, the chances are so will the neighbour, bass is different to other sounds, imo it can sound louder further away.
I had good speakers, moved into a flat, sold them!0 -
It's a cheap PC set of speakers which are not much bigger than a packet of cigarettes, the bass however is of a bigish size.
But though you can hear the bass its more that with it turned off totally you hear a weak tinny sound (as the tiny speakers) with it on but turned all the way down its more like lcd tv speakers not even that powerful, the setting I did have it at before was more like reasonable tv speakers.
Considering my old crt tv has more powerful sounding speakers than the pc ones.
So not sure what the exact issue is, or why the previous tenants never heard it, its not a case of them being polite the guy in flat downstairs before said the previous tenants in my flat used to play music all the time at loud volumes yet he even said he never once heard mine, same story from previous tenants upstairs they said they never once heard my speakers.
So I think the sound is there but different people have different opinions on whats loud.0 -
Bass is not for flat dwellers, sorry, turn it down.
Hoovering is ok up to 8pm definitely. 9pm at a pinch but I wouldn't do it if my neighbours had a baby.
When you're living on top of each other, you have to be more considerate, and don't ask your neighbours if they can hear you when you don't really want to know the answer!0 -

If that small and you have them turned down, I really can't see how they are an issue?
Unless PC speakers have moved on loads since last I looked, you can't get that much sound out of something so small.
Just make sure the bass is not vibrating against something, as that could cause more sound travel than the bass itself.
Bass can be sited anywhere, it's not possible to tell the direction the sound is coming from (well good bass you can't, can't see your Pc ones are true bass), so try placing it somewhere where it's not near a wall etc0 -

Babies sleep at all hours of the day so that wouldn't stop me.
Young children can sleep through almost anything anyway.
Where I live the road noise is much louder than the sound of the vacuum cleaner.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

Point is you choose when to vacuum.
Something different about hearing noises you know don't have to be made, than hearing noises that are normal for the area you live in.0 -

It was down though, so its working out the interpretation of volume and reasons for it such as closeness to hollow wall, because if the dial starts at 12 (which means off) same for volume and both are set at 1 or 2 and what I do listen to often I set volume to half or less the maximum available on youtube.
And they themselves said its only audible in living room and no other room of theirs, its also not audible in any other room of my flat, even with doors open I barely hear a murmur.
So its most likely because of some reason its louder for them than it is for me
Its about a foot (not sure how big a foot is acually lol) from the wall.
It is strange how the previous tenants above and below never heard anything and I have the same speakers as previous address and neighbours used to knock on my door randomly as I was silent, as did ones at address before that.
Now I have lived with neighbours where I have heard heavy bass so I know what to expect from it, amd though I asked them it didn't seemed to be a priority for them.
My laptop speakers are just as loud as my pc ones at the setting I have them if not louder as I feel they are too loud
I just can't tell if what they hear is quite mild in the sense its similar to a washing machine in use or worse.0 -

I seem to have a very quiet vacuum cleaner in that case.
I can't hear it with the bedroom door closed until the person vacuuming actually approaches the door from the other side and bumps the door.
I've vacuumed with an upright Dyson before and they are very loud so I would recommend anyone in a flat buy a vacuum that is quiet....no more than 70db. A door or a wall can attenuate the noise enough so it sounds quiet to the person on the other side of it. If that's not quiet enough then TV noise is louder than that. Or should I ensure I turn everything off at 8pm and go to bed.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

The bass is bigger than it should be though, its like the size of a old fashioned stereo speaker (not the massive ones the ones you get with smaller hi fis)
I have the bass on the bottom shelf of thet computer desk against the edge of the desk (so could be rattling off that) but saying that when I have speakers on I notice zero rattling and I am sensitive to things like that as the louder I can set bass you can feel the vibrations on your feet and higher and higher makes like the monitor rattle and since it doesn't do that then its on low but it is basically a foot from the wall.
At most what I would compare the bass to is a old nicam crt.
They have no problem with the guy across the road who parks outside their window and slams his doors when getting into van before 6am every morning (which just so happens to be the exact time their baby wakes up crying) or when that same neighbours dog barks so loud at 8pm or 10pm at night which is so loud you can hear in the flat above me with the windows closed and its ongoing for as much as 15 minutes.
I think its possibly more likely they are woken up by the noise from the dog and as I hoovered they just assumed it was me.0
