Is there any particular reason a set of la di da magnificent headphones would not give as good if not better sound experience? They can be wireless too don't forget so you can hoover your house, walk around etc. whilst enjoying fabulous sound quality, and no disturbance to anyone.

I ask because my brother is a musician and he uses them all the time at home. They are magnificent for quality of sound, and he knows!

    Win win for everyone no?

I think due to me being autistic they freak me out as I treat it like
sensory deprivation as I am concentrating sound to a specific area and blocking out the rest and it makes me panic and fast heart beat if not basically just fall asleep due to the loss of senses.

Id rather have cheap tinny poundland speakers than expensive headphones for that reason.

The neighbour did say its only heard in evening which is when I watch youtube more, yet my tv which I have louder than my pc and the speakers are more powerful they don't seem to hear differences are the tv ones are on a glass and plastic tv stand and the pc ones on a thin wood table.

OK, you have answered my question, as I didn't know about your autism when you posted to be fair.

You are being quite considerate actually. Just work on it with your neighbour, and all will be well.

Would putting something like a mat or towel underneath the pc speakers help in any way. I suppose you could try.

At the same time though, would it not be antisocial of them to hoover and do diy at 7am despite it being waking hours to many people so what would be the balance, it would be easier to find someway to find why the noise is passing through rather than have things basically muted (besides the fact I am unable to wear headphones as would have a panic attack) Would the fact I hear their baby cry at midnight or 6am be their problem or mine? (I am a heavy sleeper so can tolerate it but sometimes it does wake me up for a few minutes before I drift back off) I did mention I hear his baby in a polite way and his response was "shes only one, so theres nothing we can do"

But its really hard to tell, when the previous tenants I never heard them and they never heard me except on the rare extreme occasion and even then and from the way they said things the noise was less a nuisance and more that it was there for the bass.

Hoovering at 7pm at my old block of flats would of been a nightmare as the walls were so thin you could hear everything down to burps and farts

Yours - as he says, babies cry.

I felt a little miffed as means lets say I am out at college and don't get back to 6.30pm or even 7 I barely have enough time to rush doing it but didn't want to be a bad neighbour, but I have heard him in the past move furniture at 7am, do diy from 7am so feel its fair I am not forced to do it that late as I also never do it before lunchtime just in case people are sleeping in or relaxing.

So to both things, what would you see as fair as a neighbour and what would you do different?

    You don't go to college?!!

People hoover the floor though, and also his young child screams "dad, dad, dad" whenever she gets nightmares too and he never mentioned noise me before now nor did any previous tenant in fact when he moved in I asked if he heard noise from my flat and he said no, I always get a little paranoid about disturbing someone but also hate tip toeing about around people in case someone picks up the slightest noise, I had a violent neighbour in the past who attacked me and claimed I was having all night parties despite being in bed by 12 almost every night and being at parents the week before he attacked me (and he said he heard noise every night that week) and I found out he complained about every tenant since the day he moved in and after I moved out so it wasn't me.

I suppose the point is to make adjustments to suit him but I have to accept anything he does., he never apologised for waking me and my guest 4 days in a row with diy, never told me when he was dragging furniture downstairs at 7am the other day when he was moving which woke me up, never apologised the time when my clothes on balcony were covered in sawdust as thats where he saws.

I am just being a bit careful as you never know what will happen, I can tolerate his noise but if complains about mind and I then mention his I don't want to be treated like I am the one in the wrong.

But the huge problem does seem to be the bass which from what was said seems to be more travelling through the old fireplace than actually being loud. whenever I have guests they always tell me they can't hear whats coming through and ask me to put volume up and most of the time when I watch a youtube video I move the slider to half or less, if he can still hear it then than its strange.

I wonder if its easier to put a book under the sub in case its rattling or something.

I did until recently, and have in the past and by time I got home it was often past 6pm, when I was at college in the city it was closer to 7 which is part of reason I left as had to be up by 6.30am in morning to get there

I used to work nights, but I don't now so I wouldn't base a current situation on that. It would make no sense to do so.

So is there any reason why you need to hoover in the evening?

But its a situation that may happen again in the future.

Hoovering in the evening is down to factors like I don't want to disturb someone hoovering too early, and doesn't seem much point hoovering in the day if by the evening its dirty again due to things like going out of the house.

I always aim for hoovering around the 8pm mark or a little earlier

And meanwhile I have been tolerant with the diy the neighbour has done for months, at one point woken 4 days in a row with drilling, sawing etc whilst he put floorboards down and started 7am every day, him putting up shelves past 7pm at night, my clothes being covered in sawdust whenever he does diy.

Im intrigued. How do your clothes get covered in sawdust when your neighbour does DIY?
