Successful PIP appeal for mentally impaired friend - from 0 to 29 points !

Just curious - you ask people to pm you for information.PHILANTHROPIST wrote: »Hi, I am a lawyer and I recently supported a male friend with some severe mental health impairments to appeal a ludicrous decision by ATOS/DWP to recently award him zero points following a face to face assessment.
In the event it was a piece of cake to appeal and make the DWP and ATOS look thoroughly stupid. That said, it would appear that few disabled people are adequately equipped to overturn the system ... and the DWP clearly take advantage of that fact.
I assisted on a pro bono basis. If any members want to learn how my friend achieved such a successful outcome I'd be gald to inform you and/or answer any queries.

Why would you not want to post the advice right here on the open forum?
Should anyone contact you, are you also going to provide the information for free?
So why not 'report your findings' right now on this thread?PHILANTHROPIST wrote: »I am not falsely representing myself at all.
That is a criminal offence.
I will report my findings solely to the Benefits and Work website (an excellent site for work and benefits that chrges a nominal annual fee)who are to their credit virtually troll free.
It is a shame that trolls like you still operate on this site with a clear intention to discredit and divert well meaning threads with your own agenda.
Stay in your cave.
I think you may possibly be in breach of MSE's rules:
It would be a pity if someone who had valuable information that may help other people in need was banned from the website or had this thread deleted without sharing said information.- Why was my post about my company/site/blog/offer deleted?

If you want the information you need to pay for it is what I read, lets just take advantage of everyone and not help them.
As for being a lawyer, money grabbing like this thread implys just sums up what being a lawyer is all about.
Give your information to help those that need it or don't, it's that simple!0 -
I would always be very dubious about anyone who starts off by needing to say they are a lawyer, or anything else. Good advice (not that there appears to be any advice here, good or otherwise) doesn't need qualifying to convince people, it is evident in itself. However, the OP does appear to have a fascinating posting history that consists of attempting to drum up personal contact via PM and vague claims of legal expertise - and then disappearing without a trace for a couple of years having been completely trounced on the boards by someone who possibly was a lawyer (but didn't actually say so, as far as I can see - certainly someone with substantial employment law experience).
This has all the appearances of a scam of some kind - contact me away from the watchful eye of others and I'll give you something of dubious value (in return for money?).0 -

So maybe the OP's user name is a bit of a misnomer......:whistle:This has all the appearances of a scam of some kind - contact me away from the watchful eye of others and I'll give you something of dubious value (in return for money?).0 -
I am appealing my own PIP Decsion at the moment, zero points awarded, MR failed, now appealing on paper. Whilst I know PIP is different from DLA I went from HRM and HRC to nothing, ATOS lied through their teeth. And thanks to the lies and stress they have caused, I've just spent three weeks in the mental health ward after I took an overdose.0

Sorry to hear about that. I found the Tribunal to be very reasonable and understanding. When you say "appealing on paper"; do you mean that you do not plan to attend in person ?
P.S - I have just read some of the abusive remarks made above. re the original post. I would have been happy to catalogue the pro bono assistance I provided, but the small minded nature of a few members put me off.0 -
Yes, paper based. I can't face going in person. CPN has wrote a report as has psych so forwarded to Tribunal people in Liverpool.0

I am not a lawyer, a doctor, or even remotely qualified to help you, but if you ever feel like that again, PM me, and I'll do my best to find you support, even if it just means I ring 999 and give them your address.0 -

Just do it. If you can help ONE person, then there will have been a reason for your original post.0 -

not much important making them look like fools ?, when you need money to live etc ?, no ?
rather low on the priority list...
This^^
Hits the nail on the head.
DWP simply don't care at all, have no scruples or conscience so cannot by default feel stupid or foolish. The point is to get the result that's fair at tribunal with dignity and not lower yourself to anyone's elses level.Master Apothecary Faranell replied, “I assure you, overseer, the Royal Apothecary Society dearly wishes to make up for the tragic misguidance which ended so many lives. We will cause you no trouble. We seek only to continue our research in peace".0
