All the similar celebrations I've ever witnessed have always been followed by a generous helping of disillusionment.
For a pensioner living on a modest income, it will likely be same old, same old....See what I did there?
In or out, there will be no more in the kitty for you or me, and rightly so. We had our chance. Indeed, as the Boomers die off, their political influence will wane, except perhaps for the few who made big it during the Good Times.
Oh, and by the way, when did those happen? I950s? I don't remember.
Pass the Sanatogen....Cheers! :beer:0 -

It's hard to have confidence in someone you've just watched shoot himself in the foot...
There is going to be a price to pay, let's just hope it isn't going to be too much.0 -
I'm surprised that you've reached your age you and not yet discovered good old British cynicism.

:rotfl::rotfl:I'm already anticipating there will be those that will try to subvert this Dave.... I've definitely discovered "good old British cynicism" - unfortunately. Started out as an idealist and finished up as "cynical as heck". The cynicism mainly kicked in at all the "frighteners" the Remain group were trying to put on us. At my age - my reaction to that was "I've had better people than you trying to frighten me off before now - and they didnt manage it .....so <shrugs>". I've had some very hard cases/employers/etc trying to "frighten" me off a course of action I've decided on before now. So - yep.....very cynical...
Personally - I'm in a "social group" that have the majority of people wanting to Remain (be it here or Home Area). Almost feel like "traitor to my peer group" <shrugs>
It had to be done. I felt one has to vote for the "greater good" of the "greatest number" of people and what is in the interest of the country as a whole.0 -

Few people seem vote with noble intentions like those you mention; it's typically over trivial matters which irritate them one way or the other, or maybe enlightened self interest about the immediate future.
Me, I began preparing Plan B months ago, but I really didn't expect to be implementing it so soon.0 -

There's a plan B?
For the country, there are interesting times ahead, including what will happen when the other kids in the class see how the naughty boy fares, and what his punishment will be.
Some of them already consider that the school is going to the dogs anyway.....0 -
I suppose with the overall vote being so close - roughly half the country is going to be angry. It also appears the the Leave campaign "promises" are already being thrown out so it is possible that Leavers are going to be slightly disgruntled by false promises too.
Also interesting to watch the London situation - obviously a fairly influential city that is overwhelmingly for Remain - that is going to feel strange.
In the immediate future, I will be most annoyed about having a new PM that was not elected to be so.To err is human, but it is against company policy.0 -

PMs are not elected, but I get the feeling. Quite ironic when you think about the rhetoric on unelected EU officials...0 -

Just goes to show, how isolated London is from the rest of the country. That map they show on TV of who voted in and out and you could see London being just about the only in area in the country was perfect example of things are viewed by the population.0
