Only having to save for 1.5-2 years for a house deposit, and being in a loving relationship, sounds pretty lucky to me.
I saved 8 solid years, sometimes working 7 days a week whilst studying, going without all sorts of things in order to get our tiny little home which required £60,000 in savings. I don't think I know anyone who just just 'given' a house deposit, and those that are will likely either be in a very cheap area, have rich parents or will have suffered a devastating loss.0
