But .... was Unlimited Fibre 40/20 or 40/2 in February? Per a link earlier in this thread, 40/2 only came into force in June, so that explanation doesn't stack up.

my phone line has developed interference. Before my Fibre was activated the line was crystal clear but whether it's down the recent bad weather (or something else) it threw a spanner in the works.
Noise on voice only when xDSL is active is a classic symptom of a line or filter fault. I'm guessing you were provided with a filteed faceplate during the instal so the odds are it's a line fault causing the noise and the low sync compared to estimate.

There was a fitted double face plate when we moved into the property.

They save they've run a line test and it's come back with no errors so I'm guessing (now) the filter needs replacing.

I say that because a) if I use the micro-filter the router loses it's connection to xDSL (orange light with the red 'b' signal) and b) if I use the dedicated xDSL slot on the faceplate and make a phone call it also loses the data signal.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

This thread has been useful to me. Fibre broadband isn't available where I live at the moment but should be next year. The current copper connection (Plusnet) gives a reasonable download speed of 17Mb/s, however the upload is only 1Mb/s. I need a much faster upload speed and I assumed that fibre would be the answer.

Apparently, that isn't necessarily the case.

it is, you just have to pay for the package that suits your needs that's available at the time ;)

The automated line test run by the telephone support people rarely shows a line fault, unless the line is almost totally broken.

Plug a corded, analogue phone (about £5 from Argos) into the Test socket (behind the faceplate), dial 17070 and select option 2 (quiet line test). If there's any background noise then you have a line fault. This needs to be reported to your phone line rental provider as a NOISE fault (do not mention broadband). Once the line fault is fixed the broadband should work correctly.

(This doesn't mean there ISN'T a filter fault, just that it is less likely).
