Plusnet Fibre Upload speed reduction
Comments
-
We signed up to Plusnet fibre, maximum speeds up to 80mbps and had few problems.
After 18 months we renewed our contract and were given a slight discount. However, we kept getting disconnected, slow speeds and all sorts of problems.
We thought it might be a problem with the router and phoned Plusnet. They sent a new router and speeds are much better again. Just checked - 61 mbs download, 27 upload.

But when did the PN change come into effect? OP tried 76 and went back to 38 in February 2016. So even if a new contract was engaged, the 2meg upload cap shouldn't have been applied, unless the cap was effective from February (and mentioned at that time).
I have been with Plusnet since Dec 14, tried out 76 download from 38 briefly in Feb this year but change back to 38 as little advantage for £5 extra within days of changing.
Until 2 weeks ago I've always had around 16Mb upload speed.

There are several people posting on the Plusnet forums complaining that their upload speed has been changed to 2 Mbps recently, Plusnet are stating people were provisioned with the wrong speed in error and they are updating and correcting their speeds.
I would post there and see what response you get from one of their reps.0 -

FTTC = Fibre To The Cabinet. In other words, there is a fibre cable from the exchange to the local green roadside box and from there it uses a faster version of ADSL down your phone line to your house. Your router equipment will still be a fibre router but it'll still plug into a normal looking phone socket with metal contacts.
FTTP = Fibre To The Premises. You got a fibre connection straight to your building with a fibre socket which will probably be seperate to the phone socket.
I've just done another test:
Somewhat surprised that this is going on. It's no faster upload speed than it is on our old 6Mb ADSL connection!!! But then they are offering budget broadband... so no surprise they're trying to make business users (eg those who run their own webservers etc) pay more.0 -
I'me still getting 16.5 Mb upload on a 38 Mb FTTC package , but I have been with them a while now. I have always found them very good over the phone so give them a call.0

:jNow Resolved through Customer Services.:j as per their reply
Right. Looks like some confusion has been caused by the upgrade to unlimited fibre extra in February that was then followed shortly after by a downgrade back to unlimited fibre.
As the upgrade was cancelled within 14 days, there should have been no change to the package you were on previously, so I'll make sure you're back on 40/20 as soon as possible (The modify order should take around 1 working day to complete)
When running the clean-up, they likely just saw the downgrade to unlimited fibre in FebThere are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times:A UK Resident :A0 -

I've recently moved house and took out Plusnet's Unlimited Fibre package (£40 cashback on Quidco and only a couple of £/month more than I was paying for Virgin Media w/out a phone line).
The service became live last week and despite a line estimate of around 70MB/s it's hovering around 35MB/s for downloads and around 1.5MB/s for uploads.
I'm currently in contact with their (extremely helpful) Customer Service team because my phone line has developed interference. Before my Fibre was activated the line was crystal clear but whether it's down the recent bad weather (or something else) it threw a spanner in the works. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
