Sorry, but nearly choked on my coffee at that bit of theology! :rotfl:

Why? Things can be wrong (sinful), without being illegal. I'm sure it is these things to which Jesus was referring. He did not encourage people to break the law of the land.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I'm glad you don't include me in that because it wasn't my point.

I just think that private landlords should be socially responsible as well, rather than just washing their hands of everything and leaving it to the agents. If this guy is being a social nuisance to other residents then you should know that and base any decision on this rather a knee jerk reaction.

All this talk of drug dens and junkies is terribly stereotypical and shows a lack of knowledge on the subject.

I'm sorry you have misunderstood me too if you don't think I am being socially responsible.

I suppose when I saw the word 'heroin' it could mean that he had done some act of courage and they had mistaken his gender. But I don't think so.

Why do you think I am washing my hands of it? I'm doing exactly the opposite!

Anyway, thanks to everyone for your advice. I'm bowing out now. I don't want to be the subject of yet another thread where I have to defend myself, my faith, my ethics or my morals. I'm tired of it.

If some of you think making money from drug dealing is fine, OK, carry on. I don't and won't.

  • Maybe the phrase here would be "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesars" and I shouldnt think it was just taxes that were being referred to in this context.

One keeps the "law of the land" unless there is very good reason not to (ie higher moral principles).

All I will say on the subject is that a friend had a BTL (opposite a church and a Primary school) which was raided, it was being run as a brothel:rotfl:so it does happen.

Ha ha! That actually made me laugh out loud!:rotfl:

Don't usually bother with that poster but this thread has quite made my Sunday. As a BTL landlord myself, I would be serving the S21 notice first thing in the morning. The police don't start knocking doors down for no reason, so I would want rid asap. There are plenty more good tenants out there, or at least there are for the properties I own. I am a responsible landlord but I expect responsible tenants too, so we can all have an easy life.:)

And I used to work with someone who held down a responsible professional job whilst dealing in quite a big way in cocaine so it cuts both ways.:)

So, not even "innocent until proven guilty" then.
