Just logged in to MySky to check when I need to give notice to cancel - but to my horror the future bills section for October is showing that I have already cancelled early !! Contacting Sky seems impossible this am -has anyone got a number which actually works without the messages about waits of more than 30 minutes??

You could try the My Sky app on Android or iOS, they hope to get back to you within 30 minutes. It only took them 5 hours when I tried it...

Managed to get thru on the phone after 10 minutes...but the guy I spoke with ,was as baffled as me!! He said that there was no cancellation on my account but that I appeared to have made a change! which I hadn't which has led to the future Oct. bill being incorrect.
He suggested that the Billing system might be up the creek this morning, and told me to try again after the normal (discounted) amount is taken mid September :(
He confirmed that my discounts end 30th October....then tried to flog me Cinema addon:rotfl:

Suggest you ask for compensation or a GOGW for their incompetence.

Can't really ask for compo. because I haven't had to pay anything extra yet:)
Have used Messenger as well now - the agent on there suggested that the billing system has changed the name of the Sports pack because of the updates and rolled Septembers bill into October!!
Still doesn't look right so I'll wait until after 14th Sept when DD is taken - check MySky then ring if its still up the Swanee!!
The further complication is that I'm going to phone on 1st October to hand in cancellation notice to chase another deal. :(
  • My deal with 75% off boxsets with sports and movies (from Money Saving Expert last year) runs out in mid October. I'm currently paying £41.71, but next month it creeps up to £89.87 then in November it goes up to a shocking £116.99 without any discounts!

I've been with Sky for nearly a year and I'd like to keep my package as it is at £41.71. I wouldn't mind re contracting for 18 months if I can stay on this deal, but looking at the recent posts, I'm probably going to get offered only 30%/40% off.

Has anyone who managed to get the Money Saving Expert deal from last year got this deal again for another year/18 months?

Am in the same situation as you - best offer I've had was 40% and all that shows on their website is 30%.

My cancellation notice has gone through and I get cut off on 2nd October.

There don't seem to be any more deals out there - for me at any rate, on the MSE Broadband Unbundled. I tried to get my Sky deal again this year after 3 years successfully haggling for discounts and it has gone up a whopping 73%. I don't have Sky TV but have broadband and phone line. Not only has it gone up massively (and so have all the other suppliers too) but Sky are impossible to communicate with. No email address. I have spent more than an hour a day for the last 2 weeks on the phone trying to get through to them. No ph number on their website. Tried to PM them on Twitter as they asked me to do. No reply for over a week so far. They have overcharged me in error and taken the money. Now I find they are in India when I finally got through to them yesterday after 35 mins. They will "correct" my bill next DD only. I have a couple of weeks to cancel. Any ideas?

Looks like I'll have to put in my cancellation notice in a few weeks time then. I'm not interested in Sky Q either as I live in a tower block.

As you noted on another thread, same has happened to me.

    I was halfway through a 60% discounted package consisting of Box Sets+Sky Sports £26.20 + £6 (HD) + £12 (Multiscreen) = £44.20 pcm.

I was hit with a bill of over £80 on Aug 27th which Sky have already collected, since my bill indicates I made changes to my package last month by adding Sky Sports (which I most certainly did not as I already had it), hence the price increases and myriad of billing adjustments.

I've since cancelled my subscription after a bizarre online chat session yesterday.

They've already overcharged me and taken the money, therefore don't rule out the same happening to you on 14th Sep.

Thanks for the tip. I certainly will ask when their retentions team phone up, which they will.

I've had the same problem too having been on 75% off my Variety with Sports and Movies bundle since last Nov. When Sky launched the new sport and movie bundles as standalone options last month, my discount was only applied to the remaining Variety part. Trying to get through to someone via MySky who could fix it was a complete waste of time, and chat is permanently busy. After a 30 minute wait on the phone yesterday, I managed to get through to someone who could see what had got wrong, but didn't have the authority to fix. He then transferred me to Retentions, who confirmed the error was with the Sky billing and will arrange to get it fixed by a different back office team. They've promised to ring back tomorrow to confirm all sorted.
