I'm:
- out of contract
- previously on £26 per month for 50mb fibre broadband only
- VM offered £29 per month for 50mb or £1 extra for 100mb
- i gave my months notice
Does anyone have a feel for whether they'll go lower ?
Also i did wonder whether you're more likely to get a better deal if you're in their system as having given notice ? never had much luck with getting a callback from retentions as I think someone on here effectively said you tend not to when you're on fibre.
Why do retentions not call you if you're on fibre?
My contract with Virmin Media is up soon. I only take 50Mb Fibre and Land line off them. I usually pay the line rental up front so that leaves me with roughly £17/month for the fibre broadband. This price will jump significantly at end of contract for me but I'm stuck really. There is no other fibre provider where I live and going back to ADSL broadband will mean I can only get speeds of 2Mb.
I want to persuade VM to give me a similar deal to what I'm on now but can't see them playing ball. Was thinking of going the cancellation route and waiting for retentions to phone ...but will they ?0 -

Called them up this morning and they offered me £32 a month for 100mb with weekend calls and a £50 credit (averages around £27 a month).
Was going to take up the BT offer of 52mb which works out to just under £20 but not sure whether I want to take the speed hit, also no guarantee that the actual BT speed will even be that high. Any thoughts?0 -
DonnySaver, I thought it was something to do with they call when your landline number shows up as being ported ?
Judi - was that agreed recently, please ?0 -

Does that mean I have to actually start proceedings of going through another provider before VM will call me to pursuade me to stay? Surely too late for most by then?
The problem with having a VM phone line is that on most competitors websites it shows you as having no phone line at all. Most then want to charge you a line connection fee. This seems like alot of hassle to go through just to get a phone call from VM retentions?0 -

It was agreed about 6 months ago. It started off as £24 but of course we had that recent price increase.
I wanted to squeeze them further when they increased the price but at the end of the day i dont think we could have got it much lower and the service we have is excellent. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Was on 50Mb for £18 due to go up to £33. Asked what they could offer at beginning of notice period (30.11.17)and was offered capped for £15. Refused and cancelled. Got call and accepted uncapped for £15.0 -

I didn't know Virgin did capped internet?
That is a good deal. I'm paying £20 for TV/Internet/Phone and that is due to end at the end of February and is due to go up then to around £49. Hoping to get them to do some sort of deal.0 -

Cancel contract and wait for the out bound team to call you, do not bother with the plebs you can call. You have to wait for them to call you.
I'm paying £18.25 for 100MB...ONLY after id instructed BT to take over the line the call came and the haggling started.
Then if they beat the BT offer simply cancel with in the 14 days cooling off period.0
