Doubt outbound retentions are going to call now :(

You could always call back and tell them to cancel the phone too - you have at least 7 days before the number is sent back to BT (if it was originally a BT number).

When I called to cancel last week they offered me Vivid 200 plus line rental and talk unlimited if I paid line rental saver £196, then £23pm for 6 months and £26 for the next 6 months of a 12 month contract. So that works out at about £40pm, not great. Hoping retentions can do better than that.

Maybe Virgin will have some good deals on Black Friday?

Just to confirm that after receiving the first bill since the update it looks like the price of £13 a month is correct. :D

    Package is:

    50Mb broadband (basic)
    Player Tv (basic)
    Talk more anytime phone

They called today. Offered 150mb plus weekend phone inc line rental for £29 a month.

    I accepted.
  • Retentions finally called me yesterday but did not try to offer a better deal at all. The cheapest they offered was around £190 for the year for line rental saver and around £16 a month for 150mb a month...

Thanks for letting us know they called you even though you kept the landline. I handed in notice a week ago but was talked into keeping the landline too (warned I could otherwise lose my number). Sadly no-one has called me yet (7 days). How long did you have to wait for the call?

Given Virgin prices have risen so steeply recently I am not optimistic of a good deal unless there is something on for Black Friday. Unsure why Virgin aren't being more competitive in relation to all the offers Sky are currently making to recruit and retain customers.

If you have only ever had the virgin media cabling into your house and never had bt can you still switch your phone and Internet to sky and get them down virgins cable system? Just need to Know for future reference.

No you need a BT line - you can get a new line installed as part of teh ordering process. Normally there is a charge but occasionally you get it for free.

Would sky sort that or would we have to spend time dealing with bt first? The problem dealing with bt would no doubt mean have you have to sign up to them for 12 months first if you have to approach them to get the line. So not great if what you are wanting to do is switch to sky, not bt.

you get a new sky line (installed by BT Openreach) no need to go to BT first
