    As we come to the end of 2017 I thought I'd review my MSE year!

    Positives
    * I finally paid my parents back - a whopping £6500
    * I replaced my old rickety fence (cost shared with neighbour)
    * I moved my utility into the downstairs bathroom, new sink and decorated
    * I decorated and replaced the carpet in my sons bedroom
    * Bought 2 new beds for my sons rooms
    * DP painted the outside of the house
    * I renovated my kitchen
    * I paid for Christmas out of savings
    * I went to Cornwall and numerous weekends away - all paid for by savings
    * I set up car and house insurance savings pot so I don't pay by DD
    * Emergency Fund continues to be £500+
    * I've continued to complete surveys to earn extra ££

    Negatives
    * I have borrowed £12k to fund my kitchen (0% however and due to be paid off by June 2019)
    * I have added to my CC debt by £900 (0% and will be paid off by Oct 2018)

    All of my renovations (except the kitchen) have been paid for by savings.

    Goals for 2018
    *To continue to pay off debt
    *To save and pay for as much as possible with savings
    *To meal plan and keep supermarket spends at below £60 per week

    So pleased with what I've achieved this year in my house!

    Hey Ramblehan - you’re back!

    Feeling very sluggish today, slept until 8am, I just couldn’t seem to wake up. Think I need to go out for a walk to blow the cobwebs away.

    No New Years Eve plans - we have a bottle of champagne to open later - if we can stay awake that long. I used to love New year but I think I’m getting old. Just can’t be bothered with it anymore.

    Happy new year everyone!
  • What a brilliant year for you Louby.

    Enjoy your evening, hope you manage to stay awake for your champers!! xx

    Thanks MTG!

    We had a very low key new year. We watched Toy Story 3 :rotfl: no kids in the house just us, but I've never seen it before and it was really good! Plus we had our champers.

    New years day we went on a mammoth 11km walk. It was invigorating and much needed. Then the washer got put on and we took the Christmas tree down. I took my son back to his dads and then we chilled with a film. A really nice start to the year.

    Today I've had to do some school work :( and then I've been to the gym. My new Fitbit is motivating me.

    Just made leek and potato soup with leeks from the freezer!

    Not looking forward to work but I'll be ok by lunchtime.

  • Hope the new term goes well. Not looking forward to the early starts after some more relaxed morning starts!
