wish i got some years ago as ive sailed with that group about 12 times

I know, I have been kicking myself for years. If there is a decent 0% credit card knocking about just before I go with P&O again, I might just buy some on there. Unless they have a disaster, they should stay fairly stable.

Thank you for that link - I've read it through several times and I might as well fess up and admit that I STILL don't quite understand the rules ! That article seems to be saying that, provided I don't have more than my personal allowance ( £11000) I can earn £1000 interest under the new scheme PLUS up to £5000 interest under the old scheme.

If my income from pensions comes to , say, £15000, then I pay normal income tax rates on anything above the £11000 personal allowance and can then also earn £1000 interest tax free under the new scheme PLUS additional tax free interest of £1000 ie the old £5000 less the difference between my income and the personal allowance (£15000 - £11000). So I can safely earn up to £2000 interest before I need worry about extra tax liability.

Or am I completely doolally in my interpretation ?

I am glad it's not just me confused - I don't know where this extra £5000 has come from either, first I've heard of it.

(and as for state pension the age will keep on bring lifted until it will probably be 68 before I get anywhere near ....)

can you buy shares with a credit card?
I assumed credit card payments would be surcharged but I suppose it depends on who you buy them from ...

but yes a good use for a 0% credit card - something else I've never got my head around ...
