They send you a refund, eventually. Or if you are due tax they will ask you to pay it or can adjust your tax code for next year if you are working.
What I can't quite fathom is exactly what you have to do if you have gone over the £1000. Initially I thought that limit was very generous - but if you have several 3,4 and 5% accounts it is surprisingly easy to reach the limit. I know you are supposed to pay tax on the excess but now I have stopped doing MS work I am no longer classed as Self Employed and I don't have to fill in my usual annual tax return. I haven't seen any guidance anywhere on how you notify them - and bearing in mind they have closed all the local tax officices, its almost impossible to get through on the phone unless you have a couple of hours to waste and they don't answer letters, its not easy to contact them.
I doubt if I will be much over the limit, if at all, but I would be happier knowing exactly what they expect people to do. I can't see how they can have a snowballs chance in hell of keeping track of it - they haven't been able to function properly for years !
If the various banks etc inform the tax people and they then have to contact everyone and then monitor payments etc it will be complete chaos and probably nearly impossible.ELITE 5:2

Morning all Hooe all is good with everyone. RL so busy at the mo but managed a quick skim back so glad the little man is home QOC. Happy Anniverasy TS. Sure have missed so much.
Had special eye test yesterday as previous visit to Optician flagged up potential problem with retina. Thankfully all ok but those drops they put in really stung and made me feel disorientated - had to hold on to DDs arm to walk. Shame really as we planned to have a bit of a nose around BHS.
Don't know what happening but I got 2 messages on a blank screen thanking me for reporting the post which will be deleted until forum team can have a look. Ain't reported anything  Checked back to see if I accidentally hit spam button but all seems ok.
Sun is trying to peep through so might have a bit of lunch in garden and have a proper catch up.
Have a good one x0 -
Tesco CC annoyed me this morning. Work has changed our pay date from 1st to the 20th, so I wanted to change my DD from the 8th to 22nd simple. Nooooo I have to cancel my DD and wait 3 months before I'm allowed to set up another!! What is that all about? Every other company has just moved it or cancelled and done another straight away. I'm thinking of changing CC, I don't really use the points especially now double up has gone on electronics.I have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. cancel it, if you have to pay your bill manually for 3 months you will be constantly worrying about the bill
if Sainsburys is your main store it might be worth getting a Sainsbury Amex card - cancel after a year before the fees start

or with a Nationwide credit card you get 0.5% cashback on all purchases. On your statement the total of cashback is listed each month and then when its time to pay the December bill your cashback you have earned over the year automatically gets deducted - I get about £60.
You also get access to Nationwide simply rewards which automatically gives other discounts - on my list it varies between 2% and 15% - some instore and some online - Iceland, Just eat, various Ember eateries, Boots, B & Q, Hilton etc - some need activating through their websites“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

I know, I told her not to bother and leave it as it is as I would forget, She seemed really surprised and told me to write it down (I would still forget). Its just so stupid.
I don't really go into Sainsburys unless I see something on here tbh. My main stores are Asda and Aldi.
