Because the questions regarding bank accounts and interest come up regularly, here is brief summary, of the best at present.
The figures in brackets is the max amount to put in for max interest.
x2 or x 3 is the number of accounts per person.
TSB Classic Plus 5% (£2000) monthly pay in £500 no DD's
    Santander 3% (£20000) monthly pay in £500 2 DD's
    Club LLoyds 4% (£5000) monthly pay in £1500 2 DD's
    BOS x3 3% (£5000) monthy pay in £1000 2DD's
    Tesco bank x 2 3% (£3000) no monthly pay in no DD's
Am I right in thinking there is a monthly fee on the Santander one juju17? Or is it only if your balance goes below a certain level? I've always avoided this one in the past because it never seemed as straightforward as the others.

There is a £5 monthly fee now but if you pay your utilities council tax and other things I cant remember by direct debit through them it pays cashback that may cover all or at least most of this fee. It is very straightforward to apply, you only have to pay in £500 per month. They dont ask for any proof of income, at least they didnt ask me. I am very happy with it. Also broadband I think, Dh pays that so not sure of that. I will look on my account and tell you what cashback I get.

£5 per month charge on Santander123 current account. Pays 3% interest up to £20,000. Anything above, no more interest.

Pays 1, 2 and 3% on certain utility bills, cant remember which off hand.

At the end of the year, you can earn more leaving £20,000 in there than an ISA at the moment.
