When you give blood now I think you can sign up to a text service that notifies you when and where your blood is used....and it can travel miles.

OH gives blood and the last lot got sent to a hospital in Colchester I believe....possibly up to 10 days after he gave it...its all rather fascinating really what they track nowadays....

When you donate DD see if they offer you that option.

yyes, i used to get them from our local Pakistani shop. we still have a pack in cupboard as a stand by. reason i changed to ready made ones was to cut down on heating the oil to cook them in.. also my dw likes to eat them with soup. so a quick addition. but thanks for the info.

Oh, I thought it was you who told me about being able to do them in the microwave. Its been a revelation to me, saves having to heat up any oil, just a quick wipe with some oil, then a 30 second buzz.

My other news today, the real reason Ive been low all day but then Manchester happened.
And then the usual daily mithers ....

My middle sister starts her three week course of radiotherapy this afternoon. Everything has been very text book, run of the mill and nothing untoward or complicated so far with scans, biopsies and surgery - slightly larger than anticipated, grade 2 but otherwise no issues.
but now she has convinced herself that nothing ever runs this smoothly and this is where things are going to go wrong and get difficult and then the scans afterwards will show she needs chemo after all ...
its going to be a very long three weeks and I am too far away to be of much practical use. The radiotherapy is being done at Shrewsbury so there is a half hour drive there and back each day.
Its going to be a long three weeks.

Sorry your sister is going through this. A phonecall will be just as good to her when its needed.

    (((hugs to you all)))

How sad to hear of Roger Moore's death...He's Bond for me too....
I met him once about 25 years ago whilst I was wandering around the BBC buildings in London....he held one set of doors open for me and lo and behold Patrick Swayze held the next set open going down a corridor...

I was truly spoilt that day!

    Ooohhhh Patrick Swayze lol

I'm already on it - my last donation went to Colchester general hospital too :D

I wonder if its on the website somewhere, have to have a look ... I am desperate to know where mine goes to.
We were due to give blood next week but the date got changed so we have had to rearrange the appointment.
Birmingham has a donation place right in the city centre and I think Manchester had one as well - if anyone wants something to do on a practical level, I think the wait for appointments is much shorter.

Have a few hours off from Mum's, so want to catch up with a few important jobs and then hopefully manage a couple of hours doing some work in the garden, before I go back.
Have some evouchers due to run out and can't see anything to spend them on. Not very good at buying things at full price.
Wanted an unlocked smartphone, but they all seem to be locked, and don't know the first thing about getting them unlocked.
So just might have to renew them again.
Keep doing this but getting worried I might loose them, which would be rather upsetting.

Looking at reviews I now quite fancy the Moto G Plus, unlocked from Argos at £139.95. Could use my £75.00 Sun Life (thank you op) and have 2 £10.00 Gift Cards from a complaint.
Anyone got any thoughts on this phone or any others in that price range?
Have also been looking at Samsung Galaxy J3.

Mine's a Moto E, and does most things, so I imagine a G Plus would have even more features.

Mine's on contract from Tesco at £7.50 a month with more free minutes and texts than I ever use - my texts can run into dozens a day and I rarely use the landline now. The data allowance is meagre at 500mb/month but there's plenty of free wifi out and about around here though I mostly use home wifi or laptop/tablet for that anyway. I've been due a new one as the 2 yrs was up in January but not got round to it yet. Not had any problems with it, one bill came to £8.02 earlier this year but otherwise it's been £7.50 all the way.
