    Morning all

We had quite a snow fall in the night, white over at one this morning. Still on the lawns now, the sort of snow that it crunchy to walk on - very freaky with blossom on the trees.
but still quite windy, bright blue sky and sun shining so its melting fast

All 3 cats are still in and they are a good indicator of temperature

day 6 of the tickly cough but the throat seems better and less raw this morning, just a streaming cold now as if its moved up the nasal passages :(

Other than that I have a quiet house today as Errant son got a days work today in a packing factory, they rang him after 5 last night so he had to decide on the spot- he is going to loathe it.
I am fuming at him as he has an interview on Wednesday and he would have bern driving down there late this afternoon. Instead now he is going to be doing the 4 hour drive in the morning

Oh even said we would give him the days pay if he cancelled but by the time he announced this it was nearly 6 and too late to cancel :(

Its a hard lesson to learn but they need to make their own mistakes. If he doesn't get there on time that's his problem. I was just like this with my kids giving them money and buying them things cause I felt sorry for them but I don't anymore. I do understand however you want him to get the job and leave!! Best wishes

Beautiful day here in Somerset. Not cold!!
I had a busy weekend working on the marathon. On sunday got up at 4.00am and went to bed at 12.30am!
Was very tired yesterday and after lunch was meeting the kitchen company at the house. I suddenly developed a really bad pain in my back and felt sick. I was also going to loo a lot. Took painkillers and rested all afternoon. I went to visit DD in the evening to take her some food as we always have loads left and met OH there and persuaded him to take me to the local hospital. Turns out I have a severe kidney infection and am on strong antibiotics for 3 days. Feeling better today. Luckily not too busy at work.
New bathroom and boiler to be fitted next week ( my cost ) and I am chasing the drying company as things seem to be going slowly.

Going round in circles this morning and have now got myself a little upset because I should be able to find the answer...

But how much does a first class stamp and a large letter 1st class stamp cost?

feeling useless......and in need of someone to rescue me.

Don't want to bore you with my diary of life but for those that are following it - here is yesterday's entry :)

The course of treatment agreed by my sister & the surgeon is ~

Surgery as soon as possible to cut out the cancerous lymph nodes, which may involve cutting nerve to her smile or one to her shoulder. Also another lump found under her chin so that will be cut out at same time. So a cut from ear going down neck & round under chin.
3 weeks after she will start chemoradiotherapy to zap the cancer on the base of her tongue & anything remaining in her neck :)

She has to be off work for 3 months. So we need to get her finances in order, as things are going to be tough.

Sorry to hear this, I'm not sure if you're aware but Macmillan can help with what sort of things your sister can claim

Yes its going to be a couple of days of hard lessons.
Firstly in the packing factory today which he thinks will be no worse than when he was a pot wash in a hotel, well he may have a point there or he may not.
At least in the hotel though there was lulls after meal times rushes when you could take breaks or do other activities, he would be working in either one of 2 kitchens so there was a change of environment and people and there was some variety in the work eg when the freezers needed to be stock checked, food orders came in and needed storing or the chef got him prepping veg or did a teaching session with him.
I personally think he is going to be bored ridged and physically exhausted and then cross when he does get paid and he sees how much the agency has taken off his days pay

And as for tomorrow and doing the very long drive and starting at 3 in the morning to allow for traffic problems and/or getting lost once he gets off the motorways - well at that age they are invisible and nothing stops them doing a 4 hour drive plus a days interview including a practical ...

This, we feel, is quite an important interview, the centre looks excellent plus there is a lot of experience he can bring to this post so we just have to hope that he does not mess things up by being tired and exhausted.

and yes I am realising this morning how far behind I am with the Grand Scheme of getting ourselves downsized and streamlined etc so I am doing a bit of sorting out this morning to try and get my mojo back ...

I usually ask the girls in the post office if they will check for me as to whether something is ordinary or large letter just to be on the safe side.

I had something the other day that was thin enough for large letter but too heavy so it had to go as a small parcel

After I did the charity walk at the beginning of March, two of my toenails (not the big ones thankfully) turned black  One has gradually just faded and now looks almost normal again but the other one hasn't. It has now got loose and I'm guessing will probably drop off soon _pale_ I am so not looking forward to this :o
