So yesterday Errant son came back from Newcastle and decided to wash his big van which at least kept him occupied but it involved a bit of mess - hose pipes, buckets, clothes, sponges, fold up steps etc

I did say to him though before we went out to do the big Aldi shop that he needed to clear up - mainly because he had a roll of kitchen paper strewn across the garden

Later on I did shoo him out of the study as he was loitering there - I was going onto the main computer to do the start of the month checks to see if bills had been paid etc and needed to concentrate. i did suggest as an activity he might do that he might want to collect his stuff up which was starting to colonise every flat surface including his toiletries in the en suite bathroom.
I know he is untidy so I keep my expectations low but at least once a day it does need tackling otherwise his stuff would be everywhere

All very low level stuff and nothing out of the ordinary

He then vanished just as dinner was being started - assume he went to his van - so eventually his dinner was put in a bowl and left in the oven for him for when he came back.
OH goes through to the kitchen and Errant son is boiling up a vat of spaghetti as he thought the bowl of pasta bake we had left him was not sufficient - mind you he vanished around the time he would have been asked as to how hungry he was and how much food to put out for him etc so how were we to know ...

Then a bit later I went to the kitchen to wash up and Errant son was still boiling spaghetti.
I noticed that Errant son had been in and out of the back door and he had unlocked it without locking it back up again.
My routine is that as I am usually the last in the kitchen - after dinner I wash up, clean up, feed the cats, sort out dessert or coffee etc and I always lock and bolt the back door. We live out in the sticks and anyone could walk in or out while we are watching TV etc so its for peace of mind that I lock up. I do it myself as I don't trust OH to do it and its what I've done for years. Often its locked before dinner.

So the back door is unlocked and I would not have noticed until bed time so I tell Errant son how annoyed I am that he unlocked and then left it and didn't bother locking again. He said it wasn't quite dark which it wasn't but that was irrelevant. He said he hadn't finished going in or out but at night we use the living room patio - mainly for letting cats in or out or coal fetching etc - no need to go into the kitchen. And its always been the same even when he was at uni and living at home.
I said my house, my rules, if I want to feel safe and secure in my own home the back door is locked after dinner etc
    And then it all erupted
He had his dinner in his room, didn't come down for dessert which is still in the fridge.
Today he has been downstairs to the loo a few times and he took a bowl of cornflakes up but otherwise he has been skulking upstairs

Oh my goodness me!!! He is behaving like a teenager...we have our GS live with us and I wouldn't wish that/him on anyone. This is the son who got married just before his sisters wedding isn't it? weather you approve or not how ever would he have behaved with his wife? perhaps you need to ask him how she is and when are they going to be able to be together?
you are :A putting up with this again!!

Dearest Mhoc...you really are going through it with space invasion at the moment.
I can't compete at all with any of what you are going through...but I am coming out in sympathy with you in a little fashion.....as yet I have not seen DS since last night when he retreated to his room around 9....I think he's still asleep!

Won't bother waking him...I figure he will get up when hunger strikes...but at least the extra sleep will be beneficial to the dark circles and bags under his eyes that he came home with!

still loving the chaos of him being home....

Blimey Sarah...thank you for going to so much trouble to keep me informed.

It really does come to something when I need the tv magazines to explain in detail the plots of soaps to me!

I think part of the confusion also happens when an actor from one suddenly pops up in another as a totally different character...I suspect this is about to happen in Corrie where Daniels mum returns...after playing a role in Emmerdale recently!

    No trouble :rotfl::rotfl:

    Afternoon Everyone.
Just a quick question. I have an asda home delivery tonight where I have ordered two large fairy Platinum Washing up liquid and they have been subsituted with another Fairy Washing up liquid so what I want to know is if I accept the subsitution do I still get the price difference back on the original order. This might not make sense but my original order was for two fairy platinum which are on offer in Tesco's for 2 for £2 where in Asda they are £2 each. Any help would be much appreciated? Hugs to all that need them.

mhoc, i never knew that spiders, not the ones in our country did bite but I read it somewhere. Mr AJ always picks spiders up in his bare hand  and I repeated, no, nagged the fact to be careful as they bite. He would never listen until he had cause to pick one up in the kitchen, a yelp and a flicking movement of his arm was enough to tell me he had infact been bitten

Friend got bitten outside by an orangey/yellow one a few years back  - big swelling, hospital had to ring LSTM for advice, but it all turned out ok in the end and it was harmless, apparently.
