    mhoc,

What a difficult situation that is not easy to resolve, when he is away you worry - when he is home it is difficult. From you description/details it sounds as if he stuck in teenage years......... where they reject the boundaries/parent but want all the positives - testing that there is unconditional love. Flipping kids!

Yes he is kicking boundaries and seeing how far he can push things. I also think he thinks the household runs the same as it did years ago but we have moved on. But the seperation thing is his own choice - he really does not want to be here or to be part of our family and is tolerating it because of circumstances. It almost feels like he feels contempt for us. Basically he is here because he has nowhere else to go and he has no options.
For years Ive tried to include him, writing letters, sending messages, emails, keeping up to speed with what was going on at home but he really wasnt interested.
He has free bed and board here for however long it takes and I do laundry. He makes mess and washing up, never offers to do anything whatsoever around the house - mostly I am ignoring this as I dont want comfrontation. He takes anything I say as nagging anyway.
Ive also had to loan him money as he now has no income.
I have tried numerous times to heal but it just backfires on me.

Free bed and board, yes been there for months with DS4 until he got the job he has now :D. No offer of any repayment  but he treats us with love and respect or is he, what is the saying? Lick ar..... :o

thanks to the OP and the helpful photos I got 9 packs - my small Mr T has a very small range of anything so I went in expecting the normal level of disappointment but there they were sitting waiting for me ..

My store is a smallish extra store, none whatsoever in mine, hardly ever is

Sorry to hear that Sarah, I know about a lot of birds but nothing at all about lovebirds, how long can they live for? I suppose once they've paired up it is for life too so the partner must be heart broken :( xx

Mr & Mrs Zippy, Happy Anniversary to you both xx
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

anyway I gave myself a good talking to a few days ago and I am determined to soldier onwards and not fall into a slough of despond

Eldest son and his GF came back from the Lake District last night so they stayed over as they were going to a furniture warehouse place on the way home this morning and it made better sense than going to Brum and then driving back up the M6 again, doubling back.
They brought with them an inordinate ammount of washing - no idea how they have managed to amass so much in the course of 3 days. I dont think the washing machine has ever come so close to its 9kg full load capacity. Then eldest son had to be convinced that all of the small things, socks and underwear would dry on the radiators overnight. The dryer was rammed full and took hours.
With a few additions I managed to stretch salad for 3 to salad for 5 :D

Errant son is helping eldest son and GF move using his van so the van had to be emptied of its contents. Errant son has always kept in contact with his brother much more than us so we just let them get on with stuff.
Hope eldest son put the washing in the machine himself as an extra reminder to the errant one of how it is done, and that it is not just a mam's job.

I'm glad you posted this. I did wonder if errant son was feeling left out of things.

I tried posting using less words but had to delete and write what I actually wanted to say :rotfl:

So upsetting for you. There is a saying that you are only ever as happy as your most miserable child. :(

I've never heard that one before, I learn something new every day :T

When mine have returned to the nest, I can't bare the mess they leave around the place, so I generally take over and do all the laundry. I prefer to get it all done my way and under my control than put up with the mess they create. I know it is extra work, but I prefer to do the work and keep calm in my head than get aggravated by all the mess they create.

    Never give up!

I agree, stress causes acid build up.

At the moment we've taken in DS4 washing as he and DGF can't afford a washing machine. I don't mind and like you, I'd rather do it and be in control

Glad you've had a good weekend away Sarahdol - but sad to hear about losing one of your love birds - do they pair for life, will the other one pine?
