Thanks westie for confirming that was sort of the info I was getting while googling. But I also saw some prepaid things you could buy from companies I didn't recognise.
I think she was hoping to have something sorted more or less as soon as she arrives as the next afternoon she has had to book something she needs a certificate for as she can't seem to arrange it over here. She is worried she might get lost on the way and wants some internet to find directions. Think she will have to go back to old fashioned maps. :rotfl:0 -

Thanks for the link, We are in Suffolk so to far away. But what a fantastic auction house, they had loads of boxes of perfume. I had to retreat quick smart before I left an online bid  :rotfl: :rotfl:There's no place like home
Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

So sorry, just had best mate who lives in Canada on the phone and forgot to ask, we usually keep in touch via phone calls on facebook messenger. don't know if that helps, but it costs us nowt!
Thanks pippo we weren't worried about keeping in touch as pretty sure the room she is renting in a house includes the use of the wifi. It's that first day worrying her that she doesn't know her way around and has this course thing to attend.
Just so much to worrying about with getting skills signed off and finals looming and so much to organise for elective.
I must also look into getting Canadian dollars for her. Possibly a prepaid visa or something. I am totally clueless on this as I just took cash to Turkey for our holidays last couple of years.0 -
thanks to the OP and the helpful photos I got 9 packs - my small Mr T has a very small range of anything so I went in expecting the normal level of disappointment but there they were sitting waiting for me ..
I expect this shopping put a huge smile on your face. More toilet roll for the en suite:j:j:j
Now don't be tempted to share the wilkos toilet roll to main bathroom. Main bathroom must only have finger through type loo roll so as not to make it feel too homely.
Just an idea but Job Centre for someone tomorrow. Not nice and force him to pay a reasonable amount of board. At least £30 for a token donation. Not including full fridge benefits.
Fact of life, if you are not working and have no savings then must sign on. Covers NI contributions.
Might help him find a job quicker.

Still off my food somewhat, didn't fancy anything. That was until DS4 arrived to collect his fresh ironed laundry :rotfl: :rotfl: "have you got any spare eggs please?" he asked his dad as he's putting his hand into his pocket. Aha:eek: jingling money he was paying for them, so not all bad
Once they have got their selves properly settled in and get used to the bills they will know how much they can afford to spend on a washer of their own. I did suggest he wash by hand, leave clothes to soak in bath for a while then get in and trample on them :rotfl: :rotfl: I don't think he believed me :cool:There's no place like home

can;t believe sharpies still working. Need to be working on next month's order, althoiugh have to be careful to mix it with a 'weekly' shop so as to not fall foul of 3x orders to compare.0

Not sure if he could sign on, I don't really know how it works but it could be seen that he made himself unemployed.
But Monday he has a careers interview with army recruitment and Tuesday he will know the result of the tribunal - he still thinks he is going to be re-employed - have to see about that. I've also sent him some links for PGL and scout association so at least this week he should be fully occupied.
I am also going to insist that he does other bits like register with the doctor and make an dental appointment etc
I have said to him that eldest son took almost 12 months to go through his RAF/army applications - interviews etc but he still worked full time while that was in progress.
Fridge - he is allowed full access to pepperonis that were free from COS and he also is drinking the odd Brothers/Spoilt Pig cider which were also free
Bathroom - yes only the cheap stuff downstairs, I am also doing small acts of rebellion eg open windows for fresh air which he seems not to like despite being an outdoors person :rotfl:“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
On a similar note, friends daughter in NZ found it cheaper to buy a car carand then sell it on/ditch it, rather than rent
Yeah, but that's not always simple......
Overheard a conversation in the YHA in Christchurch......woman was going to buy a vehicle off a couple, had it booked into a garage for a once over......end result was no sale. All depends if you know what you are doing and can be prepared to wait around and/ or a load of hassle. Ditching is probably easier.
Our ex Scotland neighbours who rolled up beside us, had a Mercedes van shipped out in a container costing 3k as they were going to be in NZ for 3 months, he did his research the van will sell easily.
Horses for courses.....Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

mhoc, my DS2 is an absolute pig in the house, I cleaned the kitchen last night, an hour it was wrecked and I mean filthy. I knock on this door (as GF is there - she is just as bad) and tell them to sort it.. this morning it is a little better but still filthy - so I clean it again... walk the dog to find the kitchen is wrecked again...I am hoping that they don't ask/tell me his GF is moving in....100
