Best guide I know for health related benefits is Benefits and Work website. If you join for a small fee they have very in depth guides about claiming pip, mandatory reconsideration and tribunals. Best help there is in country an how to fill forms genuinely and correctly and support for all reconsideration and tribunals. Also have ESA advice.
I presume there might be a similar guide for child tax credit. I think your son's will have a low enough income to still get child benefit.
