Its my OH birthday end of March and I want to take him away for 3 nights, its a big birthay.
Can anyone recommend anywhere nice, was thinking Venice, or Barcelona, or anywhere really.
Any recommendations on places to visit and where to book it aswell, any offers around??
Many thanks.
When we visit a city that's new to us the first thing we usually do is one of those open top bus tours. It gives you a good feel for the place and ideas for things you might like to go back to and see in more detail.0 -

Remember what you were like after cleaning out the Manor:DNot like me to get something right. :rotfl:
Thanks TM, I have just done the 7 drawers of the tallboy tonight. The mould has cleaned off fine but still smell a bit musty, reminds me of my mum's bungalow, she never ventilated the rooms and neither does DD.
The new dressing table only has 2 top drawers so the radiator will not be covered and we will leave the corner where the tallboy was without any furniture as it always used to be empty until DD1 came home from uni with loads more than she had taken with her.
Have the other 8 drawers of the old dressing table tomorrow and it's shell.
They were only the cheap Scandinavia range from Argoose, but have served a purpose well when it was all we could afford at the time.
I all my mum's jewellery sat in her wash basket that I still use as mine broke. They don't make them like they used to... It really is time I looked through all the treasure, a lot of it worthless but each bit tells a story. :A
I remember the Avon ring well, I saved my pocket money to buy it for my mum, the age when you don't really know about precious metals. I am sure I thought it was real silver for the money I parted with back then. :rotfl:0 -
Thankyou, everyone here has been fantastic:A also my sis has found out who cares and who are friends are
I agree, that you certainly find this out in these situationsHave you all gone to sleep zzzzzzzzzzzzzz ?
I had ZZZzzzzzz
Sarah, I can thoroughly recommend Barcelona. You can get a ticket for a day or a few days that gets you around everywhere, by train or tram. Also the open top buses are great, and they do a hop on hop off daily ticket. Both great valueMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

They have appealed but have been told it could take several months to be dealt with as so many people are in the same boat. They have got their doctors full support and have also met up with someone from an advisory group who seems to have links with the local MP's office. Trouble is, the car has already been taken away so they are pretty stuffed as they can't get very far without transport. DH and I are really worried and have today bought another car which we intend lending them until such time as their appeal is dealt with. Hopefully, they will get a car back but if it all goes T'S Up then they can keep my car. If they do get reinstated then I will have a rather nice little Venga for sale.
I'm just glad that we are in a position to help out - but how on earth can it be right that 2 people who have very limited mobility can quite suddenly have the mat whipped out from under them and be left nearly housebound. Even shopping is going to be near impossible as neither can carry more than a small bag of stuff when walking. The system is seriously flawed.ELITE 5:2

Last time I did this, I looked at flights from my local airport that were cheap... and then booked the best hotel within 10 minutes drive at the other end... it worked out well100 -
Couldn't agree more, my OH has in the past been involved with appeals, people sometimes don't think to put the worse days especially if medication actually masks symptoms.
tbw I would definitely look into an appeal for your DIL, Mr TS helped our neighbour and his best mate appeal and both decisions were reversed besides those that he worked with in a professional capacity. Sometimes people need a bit of a nudge to remember exactly what they do struggle with and sometimes things they think are of no significance make the difference. There may be something your DIL missed divulging on the forms this time round. Are there any local charities that may be able to help with the appeal? I hope there is a better outcome for them both.
I know what you mean about mentioning everything. The trouble is the assessment form seems to be a sort of multiple choice tick list and its very selective as to what info they want to know - quite what whether my DIL needs help to take her medication has to do with whether she can physically get around Bristol without a car is beyond me. They seemed more interested in her mental state than her physical problems. When they allocated her a car 4 years ago she was more mobile than she is now and she will almost certainly get worse year by year . Its a case of moving goal posts I guess.ELITE 5:2

Yes loads better thankyou.hornetgirl wrote: »TravelZoo quite often have some good deals on European city breaks so maybe worth a look. I've never been to Venice but Barcelona is a lovely city, with loads to see and do. If he likes football you can do a tour of the Nou Camp stadium.
