Good morning everyone. I've had a mostly fantastic 2016 after the opposite 2015. I've been home from down under a couple of weeks & just started to lurk again.
I saw the picture of the gorgeous kettle posted & dragged my dh out in time for opening yesterday to treat myself. I've opened the box to find the lid doesn't close properly, consequently when pouring, the water comes out of the sides as well as the spout!! I'm wondering if I've just got a rogue one or if it's a design fault? I'd be grateful if someone else could check theirs please. TIA x

Please can I ask a question, one I never thought I would have to ask but here goes ...

If someone has taken a speed awareness course - I seem to think it was February 2014 - can they take another speed aware course ?
Or does it depend on other factors like who is the local authority and what the offense was and how long between the offenses etc?

How long does the notice stay on your car insurance records and does it make a big difference if you have 2 even if they are years apart?

Last time he took the course so he did not get the 3 points but even so it made a massive difference to his car insurance premiums when it came to renewal time.

They are having a really carp time at the mo, the next posting came through and its not good, this additional pressure has come at a bad time but even so ....

I've just got to go now and ruin someones week :(
Does anyone else get fed up of their 20 something's making the same stupid mistakes.

Think you are allowed to retake Speed Awareness every 3 years. I'm afraid my kids did not get sensible until their late twenties. My DD was a nightmare in so many ways until she finally settled down 2 years ago. I sometimes look at her and think are you the same person. She is a Mum herself now and actually apologised to me the other day for being such a nightmare. However her bedroom at home is still not emptied and OH is giving his notice in a couple of weeks so will need it emptied for his stuff soon. Afternoon off this afternoon and no babysitting needed as I had her all day yesterday but I have my friends tax return to finish ( he pays me to do it so an easy £100.00 for an afternoons work ) I posted about my British Gas dd the other day and just had an email to say they will be taking the lower amount. That's a relief!
    Miserable weather here too!

I found you just have to let them get on with it.

But the day will come when they present you with an idea as if they've just discovered it. The fact that you probably advised them of it some years ago, is by this time long forgotten. :)

No idea about the course, sorry. Hope things improve for them soon.

as before I take a "think it but don't say it" approach, I deal with the practicalities but let him get on with the rest himself - basically I've just messaged him, asked him for his address where I can send the forms to as he is on base this week. I've sent him screen shots of the letter and just told him what sections need to be completed.
Once that is completed and posted off (his responsibility) we just have to sit and wait and see what happens when the next letter arrives.
Last time he didn't realise there was a choice between speed course and points so I helped him make that decision. Also you can do your course closer to home, it does not have to be were the offense took place.
He got lucky in a sense as the course that time was in a hotel very close to base and he got a Saturday course so he had no worries about being on time etc.

Its also made me realise that car insurance time is looming - he is on our multi car insurance policy.
At the mo he does not have a savings account as such as Nationwide closed the old monthly savers account last November. So I need to make sure he starts one and puts money aside for the car insurance each month or he wont have sufficient for May ...

He was gob snacked at his car insurance premium last year, the speed awareness course put about £300 onto his premium so this years is going to be even worse now ...

Hello Mhoc, Rats awful things, We had them a couple of years ago they got into the loft. We found dog food up there, we don't have a dog. We didn't no where they were getting in from.We was advised by a friend to shake talc all over the floor. Next morning we could see tracks where they had been. They was coming from next door,at the time their garden was very over grown. They had a out house in which they stored dog food. Rats got in by climbing up the ivy on their house and through a hole in the facer board. Strange but true.
May help you find where they are getting in.

    Evening all. take care D:)

We had a rat that had eaten its way though the mortar in our stone walls, It had eaten inside the wall for 4 metres and came out in the toy room, eaten though the toy room into the pantry and then hid in the bathroom under the shower tray. Spent over a week trying to catch it with traps but they are not a stupid as mice and avoid new things. Got a sticky trap then, less than an hour later we caught him.

northerngeezer, it's lovely to see you posting. Was wondering how you were keeping, sounds like you need a bit of a ((hug)) xx

oh dear mhoc, 20 somethings, what did we bring into this world. I can guess what he's done but sorry I don't have an answer for you. Someone on here must know, or failing that you could post on the Motoring forum. Good luck xx

Hi altojack - eventually if I ever do catch up with myself this week which is doubtful I meant to PM you.

Eldest son didn't get the postings he requested, terrible mess up whereby they lost his paperwork so he had to submit again. He has ended up with just about the worst posting possible - well the base and people and work are good but the location not - fortunately the start date is movable and he may have to take other courses but it could be July.
    East Anglia
Wattisham - looking at the map it seems to be about 20 mins from Stowmarket so it must be not far from you.

We are up in Cheshire and GF in Brum ...

I think he was closer when he was in Cyprus - 4 hour flight into Manchester ...
