So true :) My OH is so confused, having been badly told off last week for eating the wrong mince pies - he didn't realise there was a difference between the pre-Xmas and Xmas ones :)

I anticipate that DS will be very confused when he gets home tomorrow...last time he came home he really politely asked if everything in the fridge was ok to eat.....presumably uni kids get this way when faced with shared fridges.

I told him that everything was fair game and why shouldn't it be....except I may now need to move the goal posts maybe thats not always the case with "christmas food".

Hi, did they say that 1stop are participating? I had emailed and they gave a general response about retailers having to confirm participation and if not they are removed (but if I find any that are participating and not credited to let them know). I am not sure whether to chance it or not?

That's what they told me. I'm going to try it soon, with the loo roll -- thanks for the tip!

I'm off to T in a bit to get some fizz....I only need the cheap stuff so has anyone seen any prosecco cheaper than the £5 plaza that thay have on offer from today?

Just a general q to throw open to all....when do you actually start eating your christmas food....for weeks we seemed to have been getting bits and bobs together, but when does everyone actually start tucking in....

For us it will be tomorrow evening when we are having cold meats and fishy bits with maybe a bit of cheese....then probably most of that will need replenishing for another similar type of meal between christmas and new year.

I think I'm getting a little bit fed up of opening the fridge and seeing all these nice nibbly bits that are there under the pretence of being "for christmas" with no indication of when the eating actually starts

I'd start eating now LEJC because in two weeks most people will be starting their new years resolutions which in a lot of cases will be to diet after the festive season...:rotfl:

I have a bit of spare time...so if you want me to come help...I'd be more than happy too....I am going to my sister for Xmas so have not bought anything......apart from my advent calender...:(

Microsoft have just rung again to fix my computer :rotfl:

I said I am very glad you have rung because I couldn't switch my computer on.
So he asked why and I said my plug had been cut off :rotfl:

so we then had a 5 minite circular discussion with me just repeating this over and over and the scammer trying to stick to the script in front of him but getting nowhere - I don't think he knew what a plus was as I imagine his English was limited to the script

so then he gave up :rotfl:

We've actually eaten one of the M hams this week and it's been quite a challenge...I really didn't think that one piece of meat could go that far....there was only the 2 of us but it managed 5 main meals and lunchtime sandwiches for us both....just needed the freezer space so it had to go.

I really dont have a clue with christmas food...this will be the first christmas in about 10 that we haven't been away...I'm just so used to not dealing with it and just returning in the new year to pick up the sales.

I had BT on the phone earlier to tell me my internet would be cut off in 2 hours time...ok I said I should try more to live without it to which he replied with a rather unsavoury 4 letter word and hung up....
My internet is still working....and I suspect he wasn't really from BT!

    Good morning everyone.

We have this one aswell, never run out of ink now.

I got fed up of handing working in with green and blue ink:o For some reason the black ink never seemed work, after doing numerous nozzle cleans and all the other stuff you do for maintenance, the black cartridge would be nearly empty :(

Not had any problems with this printer and it was easy to set up too :j:j
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

Well LEJC..just enjoy it...I hope you have a fantastic Xmas......with the people you love together with friends....That's what it is about....The one time in the year when hopefully after the stress of the build up and wondering what to get, whether they will like the gifts etc that everyone comes together and are happy... :)....

Morning all! TM, my lidl has the same cheese stock problem, I suspect they're either withholding stock to avoid people using the vouchers, or it's the most popular of the 4 vouchers. But I'd definitely recommend it you have time to go back to lidl, it's really good taste-wise and value-wise.

My dad has recently started a non-medical care business, offering handy-man services, gardening, cleaning, household odd-jobs and companionship. He's had so many people say he should be really busy because there is so much demand on local services, but he finds so often that his potential customers would prefer to struggle along on their own.

It seems that often they're either too proud to ask for help, or they're unaware of how difficult things are for their spouse (often due them having a dementia diagnosis), or they insist that the NHS should do everything for them, even if it means waiting months for help. He sees so many people struggling but unwilling to do what needs to be done to help themselves.

He recently signed up for this befriending service, as he wanted to offer some time for free as part of a recent charity initiative, but the contact he spoke to said they have the same problem. They find that potential users of the service insist they don't need it because they already have friends, even if their friends are in their eighties/nineties and don't leave the house or call them anymore :(

So it's nice to hear that your local service is having more success in that sense, maybe it's a sign of things beginning to change? No one should go days on end without talking to another person, it's hard for most of us to even imagine what that would be like.

On a lighter note, I hope everyone has a successful and fulfilling day, and hugs for anyone who needs it :)

    Good morning all,
I am a befriender with AgeUK and their charge for shopping last year when I joined was £18 per hour, and odd jobs such as your Dad is offering was £20 per hour. I have to say that I was shocked at the level of these charges and am not surprised that many dont use them as most could not afford that. It seems that the admin staff are pretty well paid, it is only the volunteers that work for nothing.
I wish there was another such organisation that wasnt in the money making business but was run solely by volunteers. I agree about looking out for elderly neighbours, that is as good a place to start as any, unfortunately I am the elderly neighbour in the street!!

    Afternoon mad squad, can anyone please shed some light on the following;
I done a bit of an extreme couponing type shop in mrT, bought a mrT card for a few pounds and several UnG, everything seemed to go ok and I paid pennies. Then I get back to the car and notice I have a "activation successful receipt" stating the balance and then another receipt stating "this gift card cannot be used", it also says I can contact customer service to find out why but I don't want to do that. ?????
I do try to keep up but sometimes life gets in the way.
I'm just a penny short of a pound. Peace and Love.

I've joined the 5:2 club cos mrT made me eat 1p chocolate.
