I've been pondering on the plight of homeless people ever since going to the Streetcat event last week and have continued to fret after reading what TM wrote about her experience in Leeds.
During the interview James Bowen was asked about the best way to help homeless people - was it by donating to a charity like Shelter, giving money direct etc. His reply was that it wasn't for him to say as people should make their own decision. Then he added, almost inaudibly "but something to eat is always welcome."
Do Boots still do the O2 meal deal on a Monday? It would be the easiest thing in the world to get this and pass it on to someone who needs it more.
Could you also please repost the details of the Homeless Period charity TM. A womble or two would cover the cost of something to go in a little parcel

Food/hot drinks are fab. Clothes/hat/gloves to keep warm is vital in this weather ..... just pop some old ones in your bag for when you see someone in need. Try to avoid cash. I know it maybe hard to accept, but old water proof shoes/boots are always needed.

There are a number of schemes where they pack a backpack with clothing and food, leave in places were homeless people are more likely to be. However, it was very sad that in one such area a man was recently found frozen to death.

My youngest son always used to give his sweets or pick flowers for people in the summer.... it was amazing just how wonderful everyone responded to him (he got a few hugs).

You seem to eat a lot of apple pie....I think your addicted :D

Wonder if TM burnt her cake again by not paying attention :D:p

Phew........ it was still whirring away when I got back but all stacked nicely for some nice star trails :D
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

    Hello all

Big thank you to all that posted things for mr w. I had some conditional spends £11 of £110 spend, thought I wouldn't use but went for it today after very planned shop and crossed fingers.
But this is what I got

    3x small chickens (pyo)
    3x waitrose frying steak (pyo)
    3x minced beef (pyo)
    3x diced beef (pyo)
1x £15 meal deal with chicken ( pyo)
    4x fairy gel (pyo)
    2x comfort (pyo)
    1x newspaper
    1x waitrose magazine
    5x up & go

Plus I had about £5 of stuff that I needed

    Total £119.??

Less £11, less 5x £1.79, less multi, less 20% pyo

Total to pay £46. Few pence

I think this was a good shop, really pleased.
Got enough meat to last us fair while, we not big meat eaters.
