Can I just be a Grumpy Old Woman for a moment?

I have tried to do nice things all day.......

I have driven DD to work then to a course so she doesn't have to rely on her bike. I have driven DS2 to a stylish barbers, waited, and driven him home, via McD's. I have met DH in town to buy Aftershave at Boots (1000points and £5 off). I am fed up driving!!!!!!

I also made the mistake of checking my work email. Very cross about something which will have to wait until next week to sort out. I 'M sure the woman who has sent me the email and copied in a parent and the local authority, will not give it another thought, but I will worry all weekend now. ☹️ Why are people so thoughtless to the point of being vindictive?

I am starting to sound like my Mother....... When my Dad left, she kept saying ' I don't know why, I was nice' ......I feel a bit the same at the moment. :o:( sigh

Thank you for listening. Back out to meet DH to see Kenneth Branagh in the Entertainer at the Odeon. I hope it's not too depressing, it might finish me off!!!!! :rotfl:

House Elf, I hope you feel better soon...

I wish I"d not looked at my emails now as its fired me up again.

Why do people just take advantage of your good nature and just assume things without bothering to check - there are dozens of ways of contacting people so why dont they just do exactly that ...

Eldest child has done an order and is having it delivered here, no idea when or how - no idea why she did not get it sent to future m-i-l house who is home more days a week than i am ...

She didn't ask or check that it would be Ok, just assumed. I don't know if its coming by Royal Mail or courier - if its RM at least they will hold parcels for a period and hopefully they will put a red card through the door. If its a courier then they only try to deliver twice before parcels get sent back. Or the courier might just dump it by the front door or in the garden in the rain as its not obvious that there is a porch. One neighbour is always out so parcels cant be left there and the other is mostly out as well.

Eldest child has just blithely ignored or forgotten that we are going to be away - deep sigh. Ive decided that this is her problem and not mine to sort out, if it gets sent back, then it gets sent back.

I think i need to go and do some therapeutic vegetable chopping in the kitchen

I think it is her problem, if that is not being too harsh. My strategy is to be very apologetic and sympathetic about her problem, pointing out that next time she might want to consult first or explore other options.

Just found my letter I had from HMRC back in 2009

    It said
"so far you have 30 years which count towards your basic state pension. You need 30 years which count to get a full basic state pension.

    amusing isn't it :rotfl:

It said that I had a gap in my NI contributions for the tax year 2007-2008 - errant son was at school/college that year and I was still getting family allowance so I was getting Home responsibilities NI contributions
They wanted £405.60 to make 2007-2008 count towards my total number of years .

So I wrote to them giving as much details as I could especially as the above including DOBs and where he was at school and college - including work and the family allowance years by my reckoning I had well over the number of years.

I then had a letter back in early December 2009 - yes that was a quick response - confirming that I had got 30 years in and had enough to get a full basic pension.

So at least I can send copies of these letters when I do write in to them again although I know it will be of no use whatsoever :D

Worked for me TvA at lunchtime.

I'd already got these free in A via both COS and CS and am delighted they are back. Clearly a TvA shop is on the cards. Thank you, both, for this and thanks to aau (?) who pointed out it was there – I tend not to look much beyond the free stuff.

Yes it is very much her problem to sort out, not mine.

This is one of the harsh lessons I've been instilling in myself this year - separating out the problems that are mine, the ones I need to deal with and have some control over.
And everyone elses which are not and I don't

  • I'm getting annoyed at not being able to log on on my tab. It is not as if I even logged off, I think it did it all by itself.

I have contacted the forum team for a new password as the request password does not function.

Of course the forum team can see I am posting so assume everything is OK, so I have to reply to the email and go back to the back of the queue! So, if you are reading team, I can't log in on my tab, which is what I am often reduced to using as my husband kidnaps my laptop for work :(
