The policy is in DS's name but paid for by dad.
I do understand about fronting, although its probably more of a moral issue as to whether we should be using DS's car in his absence whilst I have a perfectly good car to drive and OH has his own wheels too.
The car was bought for DS as a gift and he will use it when home from Uni etc....I guess it just feels wrong to be putting the miles on his wheels etc etc....
Perhaps my first post didnt explain it as well as I could have but I'm not looking at ways to reduce the premium on the car and probably used it more of an example that sometimes in order to achieve those years of NCD you do indeed need to pay the allotted premiums.
I still maintain in line with the original question posed by Arthien that if it feels wrong,or you feel uncomfortable about it, to be putting yourself up as a named driver on a car you are unlikely to drive in order to reduce a family members premium then dont do it.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

4 trains later and I arrived just after 1, currently doing my good deed for the day
Just caught the look north news headlines and it's about mammograms :rotfl::rotfl:Well I'll start the thought of the day off then.....
I once went to a funeral and it was not until the end of the wake when we had eaten a wonderful meal that I realised the deceased was not the person who's funeral we should have attended....and yes I did confess to the next of kin who thankfully saw the funny side.
George foreman once beat me to buying an original artwork at an art gallery in St Lucia.
I always eat the crusts of sandwiches first and work inwards to the middle....have done since a yongster and it's a habit I cant break.
Who's next.....
I'll go....
I've never washed my face with soap  cold water is as good as it gets
1 tattoo ( thinking about another
) and down to 6 piercings - 2 stretched.
Foods have to be eaten by type and in certain orders depending on the meal.
I'd like to say I've stepped foot on every continent but I haven't just lacking Antarctica.Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

How has it messed it up. Surely its a good comparison ?
I forgot to count to 10  - really stupid mistake but at leas tit was nearly all things I would have bought anyway or things with MOCs“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Arthien....I'm with mhoc on this one too....
Your bil could look at getting a policy with a black box, they can really bring down premiums too....but its one of those things that newly qualified drivers have to put up with I'm afraid....the premiums will reduce over time but dont put yourself at risk just to bring down a premium.
Our DS currently has no need for his car being at uni,and it is parked outside our house...both OH and I are authorised users on his policy but we dont use the car any more than if DS was at home in case there is the slightest hint of fronting.
It does seem that we are paying a large amount for it to be unused but in our mind its better to do that than risk prosecution in any way...
Before anyone suggests...sadly we can't put it off road as we don't have a driveway or garage.
I think if it feels wrong...it could end up going wrong for everyone involved.
He already has a black box and his dad has agreed, but he wants to add us which will save him over £400. I just know it will cause family problems if we don't agree, but may well cause family and/or financial problems if we do agree! DH is very against it so we're unlikely to be agreeing, it just feels wrong and no good can come of it for us.0 -

All mine worked perfectly even though I did it in the evening and there was a bit of a shadow on the receipts. Was very impressed. I need a Boots meal deal for work tomorrow and am hoping to get a Naked Juice as part of it.0 -

A few weeks ago there was an off on MSE of a £25 gift voucher for applying for an M&S credit card via Martins link - you had to use your credit card within 30 days f receiving it I think.
Well, I've got my card but there is no mention at all of the voucher or its conditions and their customer service people are extremely vague about it and are now saying that the offer was only for 'selected' customers !
I can't find Martins newsletter details - can anyone remember anything about this ? I wasn't expecting to get the voucher with the welcome pack and realise I have to use the card first but I had a load of hassle a while back when I transferred a bank account to M&S via an MSE link and they denied all knowledge of the promised £125 gift card offer ! Looks like this offer may be going wrong as well.
I've just managed to locate the T&C's so they better not try and get out of this offer !
To be honest, I had forgotten about the voucher but, sure enough, it arrived by email earlier this week. My application was delayed because RL overwhelmed me and my post and I didn't open the envelope. They then wrote again with duplicate documentation. As soon as I got the card I bought a banana in M&S and got 500 points which will eventually be a £5 voucher, so this has worked for me.
I've just got to work out what to buy in Marksies now. Fridge and freezer are full and I'm on a diet (which is working!) which includes no alcohol and I've a cupboard full so I'm not going to get the meal deal, much as I am tempted.
Mind you, having just read Bubbs' last post I am wishing there is space in the freezer... How long is it likely to run for does anyone know please?0 -
