I was surprised to see zippy was buying them for his grandkid

I thought they'd be perfect for him since he lost all his teeth

The full poem that this quote is from (and hankies at the ready, for any parents with children leaving home for the first time)

    'Walking Away', by Cecil Day-Lewis

It is eighteen years ago, almost to the day –
A sunny day with leaves just turning,
    The touch-lines new-ruled – since I watched you play
Your first game of football, then, like a satellite
Wrenched from its orbit, go drifting away

Behind a scatter of boys. I can see
You walking away from me towards the school
With the pathos of a half-fledged thing set free
Into a wilderness, the gait of one
Who finds no path where the path should be.

    That hesitant figure, eddying away
Like a winged seed loosened from its parent stem,
Has something I never quite grasp to convey
About nature’s give-and-take – the small, the scorching
Ordeals which fire one’s irresolute clay.

I have had worse partings, but none that so
Gnaws at my mind still. Perhaps it is roughly
Saying what God alone could perfectly show –
How selfhood begins with a walking away,
And love is proved in the letting go.

    :T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Much nicer than the only poem I can ever remember!!!

They .... you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were ...... up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another's throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself.

    Evening Peeps.

Just to say the bottles of Westons Wyld Wood organic cider are reduced to £1.08 in T. 50p COS x 12 items on my account.

I purchased 3 hoping that the extra 3 for £5 discount would kick in from previous offer, but it didn't....
