I quite enjoyed the 6 months break too. DD has dyslexia and I started doing Toe by Toe with her. Her reading came on in leaps and bounds and we've continued to do it.
I actually quit my job so I could support her more but she loves school and is in a reading school so from Sept 2021 she will be in a class of 9 with dedicated teachers and will spend lunchtime and PE with her current classmates.
I prefer the school model if no issues but if either of mine were having a hard time I'd have no issue in taking them out and home schooling. In theory they would both jump at the chance to be with me but in practice they would prefer to be at school!

Think I must be one of the only ones who hated it. It wasn't helped by the fact i was trying to work 4 days out of 5 and on constant calls. My eldest hated it too and there were a lot of tears and I think if it was much longer she would have started getting behind, she's a different child since being back at school so much happier. Youngest was absolutely fine though and if it had just been her I think I may have viewed it differently. Whatever works for you and your family always seems to be the best way to go and I can see the benefits of home educating when done properly.0

My goals for today. I'm not keen on doing anything on the list so this is going to be a battle against procrastination.
But my free class went well, had at least 10 people come and try us that I've not seen before which is great.- Contact lenses and chiropody claim

I called my boss finally yesterday about going back to work and it seems I could do 6 hours a day from mid January which is awesome. Need to go in and discuss salary next week, and start sorting out toddler Kavics's nursery place.

Home ed and home school are worlds apart, the quarantine module would have been a nightmare for me. I got a bit of respite with Oscar not being mandatory school age but working on someone else's idea of what needed to be taught, to their lesson plans, plus juggling work, spending 3x as long to do the grocery shop, trying to keep the house in some kind of order, keeping kids entertained, while also worrying about bills, losing jobs, peoples health, etc. And that's the sum of it for someone who isn't still in education themselves, or a key worker. Could not pay me enough to do this year again
Don't know about anyone else but it's a huge relief for me that Oscar still wants to run and give people hugs when he sees them, I was so worried with being an only child he'd emerge from lockdown hissing at people.
So nice to hear people planning ahead again! Still can't wrap my head around how mini all the minis won't be anymore, been so long since we all had a chat. And I kept having little moments yesterday of thinking where you were when we last spoke and where you are now, D! I'm sure when you were last here selling the house was on the cards, and now it's paid off (would insert mind blown emoji if I knew how!)

We were indeed thinking of selling, our credit records are trashed now as we missed quite a few payments for quite a long time, but NIM finding a niche he's very good at and a few promotions in the last 18 months, and me taking the business from small and local to regional made a huge difference to what we could afford to pay, we just needed to grow into our .
Good news on the job hours Kavics.
I think I'm so nervous to do the accounts as for two of the companies there is a very real possibility we won't be able to pay the taxes due if lockdown goes on much longer. The other two will be fine.

I decided to make a gift guide from the users of my business who are self employed or has their own company, to distribute to everyone else who comes to us in the hope it will encourage a bit of local trade and awareness if nothing else. So that got flung onto my to do list today, I've emailed out to all my customers to ask if they have a business they want including to send me the details, and I'll put it together at the start of next week.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Keeping today short and sweet in case I have to take little to the docs and he's off for the day. The vertigo is finally getting a little better though, which is great for being able to do things again. Hoping to meet a friend for a walk tomorrow with her gorgeous new baby.I feel like there are very few actual money updates coming from me at the moment. NIMs payday is on Friday, so I'll be making a big overpayment then, and then mine is on the 1st, but as I'm on furlough the 80% is actually more like 30% as most of my wage comes from dividends, so we just use my wage to live off.
We have sorted a few bits to get onto facebook marketplace too, so going to see if we can get those up tonight. I much prefer to do it on NIMs account than mine as I get some really wierd, pushy or creepy messages when I use mine, he doesn't!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Unexpected expense, eldest child's routine eye test following eye surgery earlier in the year has thrown up that she now needs glasses, so that was £32 as we wanted the scratch coating on them, and a second pair as experience of little having glasses says you will never be able to find one pair at the vital moment. Or the little screws come loose and the arm falls off. So a spare is always needed. I think we should be able to claim it back through our healthcare policy though so will submit it and see tonight.
Also had this random thought when my mum mentioned she was off getting an MOT that I can't remember when we last had one of those. So I did a search and it turns out it expired 6 weeks ago. So the car is now booked in for tomorrow! Luckily that won't cost us anything directly, as the car is owned by one of my companies, so all expenses related to it come directly from the company.
List has gone really badly today too, a friend called up, basically full of cabin fever, so spent a few hours wandering the streets with her and her baby.

I had my car MOT’d today. It needed a little work (something to do with suspension) but only cost £102 including the mot fee. It could have been a lot worse. I had a little car maintenance fund put aside. Something I never had years ago but what a difference it is not having to worry if it fails and you have no money and have to put it on a credit card.Total debt Feb 2012 = £54354.11 😳
