I would give tips on sleeping but i've never had the best sleepers either although Poppy is great now she's older. Heidi used to sleep all night most nights but wakes up every night now although I'm working on her sleeping in her own bed and not mine, she has done it last two nights so fingers crossed we are making progress. She woke up at 11 for a wee but went back to sleep after until 5.30 so i got a reasonable stretch!
I have heard a banana before bed can help. Do you think it can be teeth or anything? I think they just go through these phases unfortunately.0 -
Unfortunately it's not a phase, he's just a bad sleeper! I can count the amount of times he's slept through in his own cot/bed on one hand. We made a rod for our own back being 50/50 with co-sleeping (as in, I'm exhausted and it's 3am just come in with us style co-sleeping) will put banana bread on my list!
Hope Heidi's sleeping keeps on getting better for youHonestly I was prepared for lack of sleep in the early days but everyone tells you these magical ages for them sleeping through and I'm just feeling like he's going to be 18 years old calling us from Uni at 2:30am for a chatter

I know people look at me strange when i say I'm tired as i have a 2 year old that wakes. I'm the same with the co sleeping but it is easier at the time!0

Mini Kavics has been always a great sleeper and I believe it was because of Ewan and her comforter, Brunyo, the Elephant. Ewan was a life saver at the beginning, we used it till she was 2. I guess I am very lucky with her as at the age of 5 she still goes down at 7.30 and sleeps through the night.
Sorry about your brother Cinny, hope he will be okay after the surgery.
How is Grace, Dinah? Has the surgery gone well?
All good here, still dealing with little Kavics' emotions. Does anyone have a good book recommendations about feelings and having a new person in our lives? Would greatly appreciate it.
Sorry about your job Birdie, hope you will find something quickly.
MSE news for me, just bought a place in the underground car park for my car as they were selling them with 30% off. I rented the place up until now but it was worth to buy it now. I still have a little bit of savings left, didn't need to use up all so feeling well chuffed.0 -
Hope your brother's operation goes ahead Cinny! Fingers crossed he'll be fixed and home soon! Enjoy the wrestling too! Zach's fave is currently AJ Styles.
I think some kids are just crap sleepers and some are good. We've been really lucky with Zach but we have always been strict with him too, not letting him in our bed if he does wake etc... but it's been so rare that it happens that we can't really say if it's our doing or not! Ewan was fab when he was younger, we started with it really early on and actually missed the noise once Zach moved out of our room! We've got a Gro Clock now and it's great, it only took a week of 'training' to keep him in his room until the light turns from blue to yellow, now even if he does wake at stupid o'clock, he quietly entertains himself until he knows he's allowed out of his room.
Parking spot sounds like a good deal Kavics! Is it yours forever now? So you could sell it on at some point?
Job hunt looking up, got an interview on Tuesday (my first full day of gardening leave!) and someone is calling me tomorrow afternoon about a couple of possible roles. Both would involve a commute but I've been spoilt with being able to walk to work for so long that I've accepted I'll have to be like normal folk and actually travel for work!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Poppy just used to change the glo clock to the sun when she was younger, mine are obviously little terrors :rotfl:.
Sorry no advise on the new people Kavics, but hope she settles down soon.
Good luck with the interview Birdie!0 -
LOL Wendz! Zach's is on top of his wardrobe and he still managed to climb up and turn the clock to the sun but we were so cross with him (about the climbing, bloody lunatic child!) that he hasn't done it again!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I made the mistake of leaving it on the floor. I was hunting for it the other day for Heidi but no idea where it went annoyingly.0

That sounds like a good deal on the parking spot, Kavics! Very MSE :money::money::money:
I threw EVERYTHING at the poor kid last night. Went for a walk (in the rain, I was determined!), carby/protein snack before bed, epsom salt bath, baby-esq massage with that sleepy lotion from lush, lavender oil in a vapouriser and sleepy spray on his bedding (and his PJ's because I'm ruthless) 2 books, endless twinkle twinkle little star renditions and he was out in bed like a LIGHT. Woke up at 10:30 but was easy to settle.. and then I woke up this morning to him fast asleep in our bed  Have 4 nights now where I don't have to be up early so I can focus on breaking some habits without worrying about the alarm.
We have the Gro Clock that we were lent by the neighbours daughter, but he's not quite old enough to grasp the idea yet. That is absolutely hilarious about Zach and Poppy :rotfl: These kids have life sussed!
Good luck with your interviews Birdie! Hopefully you'll find something quickly. I've got to say I quite like a commute to work now I don't live within walking distance - get to listen to podcasts and zone out for 20 minutes!0 -
Hope everyone is okay
Glad to report the new sleep-training-business is going alright. We had 7 and a half hours straight through on Saturday which felt like a break through, but Rich decided to start hoovering (which is appreciated, but ill-timed) on Sunday night which whipped Oscar into a frenzy, and last night he'd had a late nap so was a ball of energy until about 9:30 which knocked everything out of whack. But we're getting there!
Wondering, has anyone been to Geronimo festival? Looking at going this year, and the photos look good, but if it's actually a bit pants we'll save our money. Ditto with Thomas Land at Drayton Manor? It's a contender for his birthday day out this year.
Fingers crossed for your interview, Birdie!0
