Good luck with the surgery. And glad to hear that work is going well, agree with the others, you deserve it.
I am back on full money saving mode as well, sorted out accounts and set up new direct debits too. I got a payrise too so will be a bit better off every month.
Little Kavics is being a bit difficult, having new guy in our lives is really good but she can't express her emotions so having lots of tears and arguments. I try to reassure her all the time but it is hard work. I hope she will settle down soon, she really likes him and he likes her too. it is just a bit too much for her at the moment I guess.0 -
Hope the operation goes ahead as planned Dinah.
Must be different for her Kavics but like you said hopefully she should settle soon. Good news on the payrise.
I noticed on Saturday that I have a crack across my windscreen so getting that fixed Friday, thankfully only have to pay the excess. Still not what you want in Jan.0 -
Hope everything goes well with the operation! My brothers went well, but he had a bad reaction to the cocktail of drugs he was put on and spent most of Friday - Saturday hallucinating awful things that have left him pretty shaken up and very emotional since. Which isn't how he is at all, he's very British and "stiff upper lip"ish.
I'm so relieved to hear your hard work is paying off for your classes and you're finally making headway on things
I'm sure mini Kavics will settle down in no time, it's a big change in family dynamics but kids are very adaptable! Unless you try to take a dummy off of one during the day... then they're very unadaptable.
Anyone else bloody freezing today? The frost hasn't shifted here for 2 days. Took Oscar to playgroup this morning but was 15 minutes late after misjudging how long it would take to de-ice my car! Sorry to hear your windscreen is cracked, Wendz. I had mine replaced just before oscar was born and it's a real farce!0 -
Hi all,
Hope everyone's OK and Grace is recovering after her op. Hope your brother is doing ok too Cinny.
Not a great weekend here as i spent Friday waiting in for a man to fix my windscreen and got a call last min to say they weren't coming after i missed Heidi's ballet and Poppy's swimming lessons. Then Poppy came down with sickness sat night. A lot brighter today but off school still because of the 48 hour rule. At least it was a low spend weekend!0 -
Morning everyone.
Ugh Wendz that sounds like a pretty yuck weekend. Hopefully things will pick up this week and Poppy gets better soon.
I am doing Dry January which is good for clarity of mind. Not that I drink heaps anyway but nice to have a full month of not socialising.
Booked our summer holiday at the weekend. We are going to Salou for a week. The bad weather definitely made me do it. My debt signature is looking not very healthy at the moment but we are due some back tax and OH is also due a nice bonus at some stage so it will be reducing soon. Am hoping to get rid of the credit card altogether and then it will just be the loan which would be great.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi all
So sorry to hear about your brother Cinny! What a nasty shock! Hope he's getting on alright now.
Hope Grace is doing well after her operation.
You're doing so well with the yoga courses! Those are some amazing figures, you've done a crazy good job over the last year building it up as much as you have! :T
Not the best news for me to report as I'm being made redundant next week. According to the scores on the personal assessment thingies that they did to decide who stays and who goes, I'm the loser (or, as my manager said, 'you just came 2nd...':wall:). It stings a [STRIKE]bit[/STRIKE] lot as the woman who is staying on only started in August and I bloody trained her! And she only knows about half of what I do but... I have MH problems which affect my mood and motivation etc which has been used to mark me down and I can't do much to fight it as it's my word against theirs re: discrimination. Trying to see it as a positive, applied for dozens of jobs and had my first (only, so far!) interview this morning (for a standard admin role rather than what I'm doing now) and was told that I'm too good for the job, I'd be bored and they can't pay me what I deserve so that's both good and bad I guess?? Just hope something comes up soon so I can use my payout for fun things rather than just keeping us afloat.:oOvercome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
CMD - hope dry Jan is going well. The weather at the moment definitely makes you want to go on holiday!
Birdie - nice to see you here but sorry it is with bad news. Hope something comes up soon for you, sounds really tough.0 -

Me 365 days of the year :rotfl:
That's rotten, BirdieHopefully you'll get a good payout to keep you going for a while. And tbf as long as it pays the bills a quiet admin job would be perfect for you, especially considering MH issues - when it's easy work it's easy to catch up on quietly if you have a day when your motivation is zero. And I'm talking from experience
Finger crossed something comes up soon!
My Brother has his next operation on Thursday, then after that he'll hopefully be home this weekend! Finally! It's day 45 of him being in hospital.0 -
Your poor brother Cinny, hope everything goes well with the next operation.0

Thanks, Wendz
He had a bit of a funny moment when his heart rate either went down to 16 bpm or skipped 16 beats (getting a different story from each parental!) so I'm hoping the surgery still goes ahead tomorrow. Bonus is Rich and I have got some free tickets for wrestling on Friday that my Brother and his girlfriend got for Christmas but obviously can't use
Dropped £27 on an Ewan the Sheep. At my wits end with Oscar's sleep, and although he's never had a lovey I'm hoping it helps, I've read some good reviews on toddlers taking to it. Last night he woke up at 9:30 and it was TWENTY MINUTES PAST TWO when I managed to get him far enough asleep that I could leave his room. I'm not even having any contact with him/talking. I'm literally sat in his rocking chair like a weird statue. I'm running on room temperature coffee and good intentions atm.
Anyone have any tips for getting kids to sleep?! I read that Epsom salts in the bath is a good trick, so I'm trying that tonight. And a carb/protein mixed snack before bed. I'm hitting him with every toddler-sleep-tip I can findOh! And we're introducing a walk before his bath time too, we normally have a walk somewhere before tea but hopefully a walk on a full belly will have more of a sleep-inducing impact.
