Mystery tour went to Hull, I did not enjoy it! More so because we spent 3 hours off the bus and 6 hours on it on the Sunday, far too long. It was like a really, really depressing view of the future.

My goodness, Hull! Exotic! I've got to say I had very fond memories of the city from when I was little, but when I took Oscar for his birthday to the Deep it was a bit sad!

Very swanky birthday letter, Ruby! My sister would kill for one of those.

Hope Grace had a lovely birthday. And Zig, wherever she is! OH threw me a surprise party that was genuinely a surprise and I've officially eaten my body weight in chocolate cake.

Went to Harewood House on Saturday and got roped into an annual membership. So if anyone fancies a threadie meet I know a nice place with penguins :money::money:

Grace's 5th birthday went off with a bang - we were expecting 23 children and 58 turned up - it was traumatic! Amazingly the kids all had a good time, it's just the grown ups who left shaking in their boots.

    Oooh Ben likes penguins!

So, to do list for the next few days:
    • Call HSBC to increase minimum direct debit
    • Plan Friday's childrens class
    • Finish editing birthday photos
    • Plan Friday's adult class
    • Reply to any yoga emails
    • Sort out any bits from the garage for nearly new sale Sunday
    • Clean and label everything for nearly new sale
    • Work out prices for slings I'm trying to sell
    • Send all FBA parcels to Amazon
    • Email Medicash appropriate receipts
NIMs car is going in for a full service tomorrow, no idea how many issues it's going to turn up, so really need to make some pennies asap to cover it.

So, went fairly well! Few bits to try to do today, then a new to do list for the week.

Looks like debt is going up (don't yell!) - our current conservatory/playroom was built in the 1970s and leaks quite badly, but the quotes we've had to replace it with solid brick, the lowest one was £20,600. However we were keen to do it while the house is a wreak anyway. NIMs uncle has offered to come over from Ireland to do it (he's a builder), which should be sub £10k including materials (the big expense being 5m of bifold doors and a 4x2.5m roof lantern). This will mean that every bit of the house will be newly decorated, lovely big living area and 4 true bedrooms and 2 baths, garden all done out, absolutely nothing will need doing... and we're going to sell it. Buy a new wreak. It will be perfect, but we'll have masses of debt, so the plan is to use the value we've added to the house to clear the debt, we should still be left with between 50-90k of equity (depending on sale price and value) to put into the next one, but no more debt, and we can start living our life and moving forwards.

Done my invoices for the month this morning, hopefully some pennies coming in soon. Another 12 days until our next payment from the insurers, but this one should be set aside for the building works.

Lol - I don't think anyone will be yelling at you! Your money, your choice! Having said that, given that you have a lot of debt would you not be better off demolishing the playroom and just selling the brand new house as is, without adding to the debt. Or if the house is brand new and shiny, would you not stay there?

Only reason I am saying that is a) what if another wreck doesn't turn up b) how feasible is it do up a wreck with small kids living in it and c) what if your house doesn't sell for as much as you hope?

Hope NIM's car service went well. Our car is definitely on the way out but I'm hoping it will last until 2018. Probably wishful thinking on my part!

We've had an estate agent around, with the house as it is (but newly decorated, not floor-less!) it would be worth 185-190k, this would be selling as a 3 bed with old conservatory and lounge, bed 4 used as a dining room. With extension it would be a 4 bed with kitchen-diner and 2 reception rooms rather than 1 and leaky conservatory, valued 230-240k. We bought it for £156k so very unlikely that with the 10k extension we'd loose money. So spending the 10k on the extension should generate enough profit to near enough clear the debt without than eating into the existing equity. We would prefer to stay in an ideal world, but the plan always was to do it up and sell it, do that a couple of times until we could afford the family home we wanted to keep, we just stayed in it longer than we originally planned. No worry on finding a wreak, always plenty around. And we have lovely parents we can stay with while we do it up if needed. It doesn't feel like home anymore, so now is a good time to sell before we make new memories in it.

Ah that's fair enough, you've done your homework! Is your dream home in the same area or a bit away? Our dream home would be in the next town over (about a 15 min drive). There is a difference of about €150,000 in price to go from a 4 bed in this town to a 4 bed in the other town. The plan was to do it up and stay in it for a few years, build up equity and move on but the prices in Ireland have rocketed so in theory we could have probably upgraded this year (equity would be at least €100,000 now) but we are stuck in a 3 year fixed mortgage, not ending until March 2019.
