There has to be a trick to stopping that dam mentality! I saw on a MF diary that whenever the woman overspent she'd put the amount into an over payment calculator and see how much the spend really cost in terms of what interest it would have saved. If that makes sense?!
Got some amazing news this morning that I'm actually getting a.... Christmas Bonus!! Never in the 8 years I've worked here has that happened!0 -
Yikes, apart from the pottery all those spends seem reasonable - it's frightening how they all add up, especially eating out.
I've been having a massive sort out this week. My living room is clean as a whistle and it makes me so happy I just keep popping my head in to admire it. I'm preparing the kitchen for painting but as I've been using the kitchen table as my 'office' when working from home for the last six months, there was a lot of paperwork to go through. I've spent this morning making a huge to do list and am hoping to go into November feeling organised and positive. YES.
Lucky you on the bonus Cinny! I haven't had one since my Saturday job in a shop, and as a % of my wage it was nothing to shout about. Public sector jobs have their plus points but bonuses are not one of them.
Have a good day all!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Work must have really missed you Cinny, they appreciate you so much now!
I don't know what to say about the spending Dinah it is clearly quite destructive of your plans. Hopefully you can resolve it soon.0 -
Spent yesterday massively decluttering - started with the kids room but I've now been through all their clothes, cupboards, drawers etc and at least 50% is now in bags to go to my lady who is ebaying for me - 6 bin bags worth! Some of it was too small, but some of it was just that they don't need this many things - Grace especially now she's at school. Our room will be next but that's a massive job as we have two wardrobes, a chest of drawers, and 12 further boxes of clothes under the bed, as well as the bedside tables full of 'stuff'.
Doing a free yoga taster session tomorrow to hopefully drum up some interest, need to do some class time flyers tonight.
Current to do list:
Get addresses for last few people for Ben's Christening invites
Do yoga class flyers
Email class attendees from the last term, find out who is rebooking
Order new contact lenses
Update signature with debt total
Check nothing is outstanding on etsy
Make NIMs Halloween costume
Get some more matched bets going

Sad it's gone all quiet on here again, compared to the first flurry on activity. I'm not letting that happen!! :rotfl:
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Poor Oscar is poorly so the halloween cinema trip/party/tea with his Nannan were all cancelled. He's better today, still not great, but he's chilling with my mum until the drop in clinic opens at my GP. Upside of all this is that I got to lay in bed 90% of the day watching Hocus Pocus, ParaNorman and Addams Family.0 -
Hope Oscar feels better soon! Your day sounds ace. I've been reading The Woman in Black over the weekend and it's proper tense. I've been making loads of headway with housey/financey stuff but detailed it allon my own diary as I don't want to commandeer this one. Back to work this week though unfortunately so that will hinder my beavering. I really need to get the kitchen painted.
Dinah, how strange that we went to that arboretum a day apart! I'd never heard of it before then made plans to go and then there you were on facebook! It was fab I enjoyed it so much! Bet the kids loved all the Halloween stuffWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I've got to admit it was a frustrating day. Felt like we'd be flung right back into his first few days on earth as he kept crying and OH and I just kept looking at each other with a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The movies helped! Oscar was quite bewitched by ParaNorman too.
I've wanted to read that book for years, I felt the movie was a bit ugggh and that there was a lot more back story which was left out. I bought 11.22.63 for the same reason after watching the TV series.. but that's been sat on the side untouched for monthsI did speed (hoho) through Girl on the Train in 2 evenings! I really miss reading.
Keep meaning to say your home will look lovely when it's done, I've always admired your taste in home things and your bedroom looked amazing on Instagram when it was all done.0 -
Is that the Stephen King book? I've never read any of his, something which needs rectifying! I saw the play of TWIB about ten years ago but don't really remember what happened apart from my mam kept screaming out loud and embarrassing me
I have the film saved on the tellybox so hopefully I can watch that tonight too. I loved The Girl on the Train!
Aw bless you! I've got A Man coming in to paint/paper my living room next week and I'll hopefully have the kitchen done by then too, so it'll be nice to have it all sorted finally. Before moving on to the next thing.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Hope Oscar feels better soon Cinny. I've always wanted to read TWIB Tete but have just never got round to it (seen the play a few times though). Currently reading The Shining for book club which I need to finish before Friday.
Finally had our contract through for the house purchase so hoping that means the chain is complete and we get to move before Christmas. Really need to get a hold on finance stuff again as I've let it slip recently. Hope you're all having a good week, I'd better get back to my spreadsheets.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170
