Trickle vents - yes or no?

So the answer is don't have them then?
It depends on the property and how it is used (eg do the occupants open windows for a while every day all year round). In some properties and with some occupants you will get condensation and mould if you do not have trickle vents. In others, it doesn't matter. There is no correct answer for all properties.0 -
I think Trickle Vents are unpopular because they are often of low quality or badly installed, thereby reducing the insulation of double glazed windows. Double glazing are supposed to be sealed units which fit into a UPVC frame, and the trickle vents are installed in the frame but not compromising the sealed unit. In our 14-year old house they are always open, and we don't have problems with damp or foul smell, neither with noise. The only time we close them particular side of the house, is on a winter day when an arctic wind is blowing against them and you can feel with your hand a strong cold flow coming in. It is important for our health to have a constant small amount of ventilation, just use common sense. No wonder so many people have allergies and asthma etc these days, living in unhealthy buildings.0
