    Evening diary.

Very lazy day today. I wont lie its been lovely.

Watched 2 Harry Potter films (I cannot believe I have never seen them before) NO SPOILERS if anyone is reading!

Did manage to do some housework as well, not as much as I had planned.

    1. Take off shoes - 2/28
    2. Make bed - 3/28
    3. Wipe down kitchen counters - 3/28
    4. Clean as you cook - 3/28
    5. Wipe down shower - 1/28
    6. Sweep floors - 3/28
    7. Wipe mirrors and sinks - 1/28
    8. Put clothes away - 2/28
    9. 2 minute rule (basically if a job will only take 2 mins then just do it now, not later!) lots done today, too much to list.

However, a lazy day does mean not a lot of steps: 3189 for today.

    Feb savings: 5/494
    eBay sales: £0
    Total feb Asda receipts: £2.04

We got our Tesco Clubcard points today: total £11.50 that was actually a nice unexpected bonus as we NEVER shop in Tesco but DH has done a lot of miles for work these last few months and has been using the Tesco petrol station.

NSD today. Maybe I should count these at the top of my posts?!?

I am still feeling very sorry for myself about the vanquis amount. I was actually set to use my savings to pay it off in full - then DH casually mentions that he is not sure he has enough in his account to cover the MOT on the 13th if any work needs doing. Sigh.
He has booked it in for Tuesday with the mechanic. I will wait and see what they say about it and then decide if I can pay the vanquis balance in full or half now and half pay day.

Had a lovely bath earlier and used some of the expensive Armani bubble bath I got for Christmas. (It was a present from my mum that came in a set with some body lotion and perfume - not something I would buy myself) felt very indulgent using it as normally I would save it for best.

    Evening diary.

16 CDs unsold on eBay today. They must feel sorry for me, as I have had a message from them saying no fees for the whole of February. Not sure if this is a promotion they are offering everyone? I did try to google but all the eBay posts I can find are really old.

Anyway have listed 46 items. Lets see if they sell...

Not a very debt busting day today. DH went to Tesco and spent the Clubcard vouchers + £25. I dont think he is even sure what exactly he brought apart from dog food and carrots.

    Morning diary,

Slight set back today as my online banking showed my balance as £120 less than I thought it should be.
Have had a look and it seems that npower have changed my payment date for the 21st of jan to the 5th feb!

Its not a massive problem as I had already budgeted for the payment but I thought it had already been taken

We will be fine, but next week is half term and as both myself and DH are off for the week we were hoping to go out for a few days. it just means that theres slightly less fun stuff money.

Must ring npower and find out why the date has changed. Maybe its something to do with the new cheaper tariff I signed up for in jan?

    Ooh just had a thought!
When I cancelled the premium membership on vanquis I also changed the payment date from the 15th to the 25th of every month (so its 5 days after payday not 5 days before)
I bet thats why the minimum payment has increased this month...

    What an exciting half hour!
Went to walk out the door and DS threw up on my shoes!

Cleaned him up, changed shoes, took DD to school in the car (so no morning walk today) and then get a message from my co-worker saying she is sick and not coming in.
Luckily I can leave DS with a family member today as I have got to go into the office if co-worker is not (there always has to be one of the 2 of us in)

    Morning diary,

Check me out yesterday, playing fast and loose with the word exciting!
Did do a long post yesterday but it did not save.
Basic recap - DS is fine, back to school today. Work is hard going atm the atmosphere is horrid.
I stepped down from managing the team last year as my thyroid was playing up again and I found the stress of managing people was making it too much. They gave me a new role in December 2016 which I love, but I now work in a team of 2 alongside the person who took over my new role. 3 of us altogether. The person who took over my old job is very young and making a lot of mistakes. Essentially it has been noticed that I am doing all the work whilst they take the recognition. I actually dont mind, the person is lovely just a bit naive, and I get to stay close to the team without being accountable if things go wrong. But now its been noticed I am too relied on and they have been a bit cold the last few days.
Other co-worker is constantly in sick leave (roughly 1 to 2 weeks per month spread out over days here and there) so I am picking up stuff for them all the time too. I should say this is genuine sickness so again I dont resent them for the extra work. My manager has noticed that I am essentially doing 3 peoples jobs 60/70% of the time and wants me to step back up so she can employ two other people and have a new team of 3 with me in charge. I am not keen, but its very hard to say no to a management opportunity without hurting my career. Hence the horrid atmosphere.

Anyway back to the debt busting! Yesterdays totals:

    Daily steps: 10,095

    1. Take off shoes - 4/28
    2. Make bed - 5/28
    3. Wipe down kitchen counters - 5/28
    4. Clean as you cook - 4/28
    5. Wipe down shower - 1/28
    6. Sweep floors - 3/28
    7. Wipe mirrors and sinks - 1/28
    8. Put clothes away - 4/28
    9. 2 minute rule (basically if a job will only take 2 mins then just do it now, not later!) didnt get a lot done as was keeping an eye on DS and helping DD do her reading homework.

    Feb savings: 5/494
    eBay sales: £0
    Total feb Asda receipts: £2.04
    Feb NSD: 1/28

Have got an eBay bid for £5! Lets hope it goes up again before Sunday, but even if it doesnt then I will be pleased with my £5 profit.

Working from home today, got an appointment with the school SENCO this afternoon and the boiler people are coming to check the radiators and heating at some point today.

Today is also D-day for the car as DH is going to take it to the mechanic for the MOT. Fingers crossed it passes with no expensive work needed! I would like to get vanquis off my list of debts (or at least reduced!)

  • Morning Diary.

Was going to save this post till later, but I am feeling very proud of myself and have done something earlier that I should have done years ago!

    I have contacted Moorcroft!

Ok - So I did it online, so I didnt have to speak to anyone. But I now have a full picture of the EXACT figure I owe them (was guestimating before from an annual bill they sent me)
As predicted my maths was wrong :rotfl:
But I am happy to say that for once, it was a good kind of wrong, as I actually owe them LESS then what I thought!

    Total Balance owing - £9757.30

It sounds really silly, but I am feeling quite brave! And this is how I KNOW I will get this cleared now. Before, I wouldnt have been able to even look at their website (for fear they might know and start harassing me again - I will confess even when I was setting up the online account I was expecting an online agent to pop up, at one point I was even imagining a hand would appear out of my screen!)

This is my turning point. I wanted to document it whilst I am still on the high! - Debt free future here I come!

  • Oh, fingers crossed with the car.

And hope that work calms down soon, it's awful trying to work in an atmosphere. I ended up leaving a job I loved last October. I had been debating leaving due to issues at home and we went through a TUPE transfer and the new company were awful but still loved the job. We gained two now members of staff (one was a new manager) and almost overnight the atmosphere changed. I stuck it out for six months before I cracked. I was lucky as I had another job (self employed) but I have lost nearly £400 a month and no longer have the benefit of sick/holiday pay. Plus I miss the job, it was something I had done qualifications for and it meant I was using my brain. My self employed work does not.
