  • Elbow grease is awesome stuff. I am a cleaner by job and my boss gets panicky if home bargains runs out :rotfl: it works really well in bath tubs too if there is a lot of soap scum ;)

Yes the elbow grease was amazing! I was really impressed, will definitely pick up another bottle when I!!!8217;m next in town.

    9. 2 minute rule (basically if a job will only take 2 mins then just do it now, don!!!8217;t wait till later) - added asda receipt, lots of work jobs, download a mindfulness app.

Mixed emotions today. Another tough day at work (seem to be more common lately) got £2.04 asda voucher from adding receipt after DH went yesterday.
Was feeling quite pleased with how the house is looking, then someone threw an egg at the window. Looked at vanquis balance and even though the balance has gone down by over £100 the min payment due in feb has nearly doubled. Was £69 in January, they want £116 for feb.

    Feeling really meh.

  • Sorry about your window. Not sure what it is with teenagers and eggs.
Where I am they throw them at people at the train station. And when they get their driving licence they throw them at people out the car. Not pleasent. xxx

Thanks PSL it!!!8217;s really got me down. All this hard work over the last few weeks and that egg was like the tip of an iceberg!

Been looking at the vanquis card this morning, £2 payment from earlier this week still not cleared, but I!!!8217;m totally confused by the dd amount for feb being so much higher than jan. I!!!8217;ve had a look online and it now stands as:

    Interest added: £87.45
    Current balance: £1,364.30

The starting balance on the 15th jan WAS £1,391 !!!8211; so that means despite all the work overpaying (£137 paid so far) thanks to the interest the balance has barely moved.

Sorry if I am pointing out the obvious now, but I!!!8217;m starting to see how we!!!8217;ve ended up in such a mess.

Why are all my apostrophes coming up with that weird !!!8216; message?

Going to retype that last post as it was barely readable.

I THINK there is a new rule about minimum payments as I vaguely remember reading something about them having to increase because of interest etc.

Certainly it is discouraging to see so little going from the balance, but keep on it.

  • Ok, looking into it I may be making that up! But have definitely seen a minimum payment increase letter somewhere over the last month. Maybe it was for hubby's card?

  • Just had a very quick conversation with DH. Here is the crux of why we are in this mess.
Just highlighted that despite all the overpayments and wasted money we have only reduced the balance by £27.

Whilst I am thinking oh no we have basically wasted £110 his thought was, well £27 is better than nothing and at least the balance has actually reduced.

I think that whilst we are both right, there is a big difference in the mindset there and that is probably a big part of how we have ended up where we are.
