    Good going!

I couldn't get rid of my cd's, I still have them out in racks in the front room. We don't listen to them much but it just feels wrong to get rid of them. Maybe it's my age?

I felt the same way too, but the CD player broke about a year ago, and as I never replaced it the CDs have just been sitting on a shelf gathering dust!
Disclaimer - may have kept an east 17 album for my car!

  • Busy day today, step total 14,399

    1. Take off shoes. Failed at this today, rushed home from work early, forgot to take shoes off. Realised about an hour later. Will keep working on it.

    2. Make bed - done before I left for work - tick

    3. Wipe down kitchen counters - tick

    4. Clean as you cook - Tick

    5. Wipe down shower - DH did this

    6. Sweep floors - Erm...

    7. Wipe mirrors and sinks - sinks were ok, so did mirrors instead.

    8. Put clothes away - as I didn’t do any housework at the weekend (oops) I have made a start in this today. 1 pile of clothes sorted and folded away.

    9. 2 minute rule (basically if a job will only take 2 mins then just do it now, don’t wait till later) - make up sorted this morning, beds sprayed with a lavender febreze that I brought ages ago from Avon, kitchen bin emptied and toilet cleaned.

    No eBay sales yet

Have started to save some things to list on eBay that I would normally bin (there is an article on the boost your income board about selling rubbish)
Will keep you posted how this goes - I think I should have enough to sell at the end of feb.

Tomorrow is the day that DHs ‘housekeeping’ money goes into my account. Plan to save roughly half but I can’t remember off the top of my head the exact amount I put down. Will come back tomorrow and update once I’ve looked it up.

    Evening diary

£2 Vanquis payment went through today. Quicker than I expected. Another £2 payment made - should clear Thursday / Friday.

Spent £4.80 on lunch. Must go shopping at weekend and buy lunch stuff for the week, as this is clearly where I’m spending the most during the week. Have been putting off getting petrol for the car and it’s newrly in the red now. Must do that this week (meant to go at the weekend but didn’t)
Might take a trip to asda and do both at the same time, get myself some receipts to add onto my newly created account.

Transferred £173 into my saving today from DHs money. Quite excited to be able to do a full count of everything I’ve paid / saved In January tomorrow as it’s the 31st!

    No eBay sales yet

    Total steps for today: 12,235

    1. Take off shoes. Tick! Slippers on as I type!

2 Make bed - hmm! Overslept so no time at all to do anything this morning as had to get to the dentist early. Went to make bed realised I didn’t have time. Felt a bit odd about not doing it. Came home after work and DH (who finishes before me) had done it when he got in!

    3. Wipe down kitchen counters - tick

    4. Clean as you cook - Dinner at a relatives this evening.

    5. Wipe down shower - not done

    6. Sweep floors - Erm... (must do this tomorrow)

    7. Wipe mirrors and sinks - not gonna lie, not done any of this today.

    8. Put clothes away - took a few hanging things up and put them in the wardrobes.

    9. 2 minute rule (basically if a job will only take 2 mins then just do it now, don’t wait till later) - Not housework related, but did call the council and organise a gas and electric check which I have been meaning to do for a few weeks now.

Think that’s all for today’s update!

I think your house list seems to be working well. I had a bonus afternoon home and did some housework too! But shoes came off half hour ago, not good.

Ah thanks drawing! I do think that having the list here works (I know it’s boring to read sorry LOL)
In reality though all I’ve done today is take off my shoes cos my slippers are more comfy - and wiped down the sides in the kitchen whilst I waited for the kettle to boil.
Baby steps but I will get there... but like the debt and my £2 payments to vanquis!

    Morning diary

Working from home again today (so be prepared for lots of over posting!)

Pouring with rain this morning so took the DC to school in the car. Got back at 8am. Posting to say that in the last 30 minutes I have:

Cleaned the sinks (used this fab stuff called elbow grease that I brought and forgot about last year - OMG it is brilliant!)
Cleaned the mirror (couldn’t find the window cleaner so mixed up a capful of zoflora and water - it’s not as streak free as I would like but it’s clean and it smells lovely)
    Bleached the toilet
Swept the whole of downstairs (again not to perfection but it looks a tonne better)
    Made the bed

Realised that I had done all of that in the time I usually spend walking home from the school as I would have still made it into the office on time if I had needed to!

Steps total is down (2000 odd and I’m usually at 4000 by now) but I can make that up. Food for thought!
