Housing benefit being paid will reduce rent a couple of hundred, gonna throw what money I can at it the next few weeks before court date, everything is up to date and correct, checked paperwork yesterday.
Lordlord are taking me to court regardless of what paperwork they have and don't have..or remember to follow up on, I just have to focus on making money to reduce debt...i can't get caught up with their lack of professionalism, the last 2/3 days have totally exhausted me and I have nothing positive to say to them right now, so best leave it be.
Get the outstanding rent down to less than 8 weeks outstanding (I'm assuming your rent is weekly) and they will only get a suspended possession order. If you fall behind again they can activate it.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I am aware of that,
What is annoying is the fact that housing benefit is now being paid to landlord every 4 weeks and that has made debt go over the 2 months rent debt..... But landlord forgot? Didn't follow though?
Even though when had meeting with money advice person they were talking on phone with my rent officer to work out what to do and how to get housing benefit paid to them and when it would happen!0 -
It makes no difference if you are getting HB, paid in arrears. You have signed a tenancy agreement which says rent is due whenever, probably in advance. You have the responsibility to have the rent paid, in full, on time, regardless of any job, savings or HB.
If rent is not fully paid in line with the contract the landlord can request you are evicted, even if only 1p is underpaid by only 1 day: (Unlikely judge would grant possession in that case). Sounds from you history, even if rent arrears all cleared, landlord could still request eviction & might get it.
Normal British tradition - comply with contract terms unless you want problems.0 -

I am aware of that, and have taken full responbilty of that fact!0 -
Sorry to hear things are rubbish and getting on top of you. The housing benefit system that pays 4 weeks in arrears sounds ridiculous.
Sounds like you have a plan to move forward though and glad boiler is finally getting sorted.

Update....
Went to court, case was adjourned.
No possession order, no court cost,
Agreement made with landlord to pay rent and arrear and have been consistently paying, judge saw evidence of payments being made over the last 5/6 month and was happy not to take it any further so was landlord.
Most nerve racking experience of my life... Lesson learned.
I did not take help of legal place, only had one conversation with them and was more confused and upset afterwards, also the fact that they kept saying they were going to call at certain times, never did, called very late in day and left messages apologizing and saying they were busy next few days and will try and call back, just kept adding more stress to situation.
I focused on working and getting rent paid.
Thank you very much for posters who helped with kind words and advice,0 -

Why is everyone advising this person how to stay in the house longer?
Hasn't the landlord lost enough?. Move out. Live somewhere you can afford. We love Sarah O Grady0
