Yesterday on the A30. I also saw plenty of drivers using their mobile whilst driving. By your logic, that's acceptable as well then. "If everyone does it, it's ok." Only it wasn't, was it, which is why you posted here asking for advice after colliding with the cyclist.one question
when was the last timer you saw a driver overtake a cyclist, and then from the moment his rear had passed the cyclists front wait a whole 2 seconds before moving back over.0 -
I died a little inside when I saw this thread was back on page 1.

Forgive me if it has already been pointed out. Too may posts to peruse. Did the cyclist have a mirror? It is hard for many older cyclists to swivel their head right round to observe traffic and many use a mirror. The headcam would not show a cyclist flick his eyes to a mirror. I read this as a motorist attempting to pass a cyclist overtaking another cyclist. Did the motorist leave a cars width room and also, as required/advised in the highway code, follow the rule of "anticipate a sudden change of direction by the cyclist"?0

Of course not as none of this actually happened.0 -

This sentence is both a false analogy and a straw man.Aylesbury_Duck wrote: »Yesterday on the A30. I also saw plenty of drivers using their mobile whilst driving. By your logic, that's acceptable as well then. "If everyone does it, it's ok."

One cyclist was not overtaking another cyclist, they were merely riding almost, but not quite 2 abreast. please re-read the original post.sun-n-moon wrote: »I read this as a motorist attempting to pass a cyclist overtaking another cyclist.sun-n-moon wrote: »Did the motorist leave a cars width room and also, as required/advised in the highway code, follow the rule of "anticipate a sudden change of direction by the cyclist"?
Again re original post.
also the highway code is not a statute or precedent, it is not law
I am also unaware of any section which says you should "anticipate a sudden change of direction by the cyclist".
which section says this?0
