Now you have me curious. How much money did you initially have to risk? Not thinking for me but maybe for DB or even DS2 when he is well enough.

Thank you beanie, DS2 had a night out with DB and walked the 4.5 miles back home some time during the early hours.... He seems to have a little more hope. He has an incomplete ESA form which should have been in by early June. Hopefully between us all (DD has offered to help one night) we can help him to get it in.

Thank you for 'unlurking' katykicker. Mr P is now expecting other companies to get in touch and send cheques but I think he is being a little optimistic. :)

I need to check the lucky phone website as I had a match of some numbers but hadn't realised i needed to check daily. I am still learning...

One more sale on ebay of £4 has increased my savings a little more.

No risk as long as you follow the guides to the letter. I found after my first couple of bets everything sank in and became quite a quick and easy process.

I started off with £500, but from what i've read you can start with £100, it just takes a bit longer to build your balance up.

Beanie I have found a local charity who help people to complete an ESA form. They are going to contact me tomorrow.

No gains in savings to report for yesterday but I am slowly building cash in a variety of survey sites.

The sale of Mr P's pickup fell through and it won't sell easily as it is a bit battered and bashed but works well and has an MOT .

I have a sale of £1.85 on ebay today and a bit on another small item. Little by little I will get there.

  • You're doing well poohbear :)

Just wanted to say, thank you to the people that mentioned matched betting in this thread. I've read the guide on the forum a few years ago but got overly confused. Found a few websites that explained very easily with videos and in 10 days im already £650 up!
Hope you don't mind me hijacking the thread, OP, but Im quite interested in the prospect of matched betting too - however, like you, Rogue, I found the MSE guide fairly complicated. Would you be able to please share the website's you mention finding useful?

No money made yesterday. Cottage is also empty next week which isn't good for our finances. Praying it will sell. We have changed to short breaks,as we were recommended, but now we have odd dates taken rather than the whole summer. You live and learn.

Positive is that bids on eBay are up to £10 and we still have a few days to go. I have found flights to NY for £313 return and will ask US family to book me internal flights. Hoping the price stays the same as we are still a bit short on cash for flights.

If you are saving with a credit union, it may be worth enquiring about a loan? Maybe not for the whole amount, perhaps just a couple of hundred?

beckytravis, I hadn't thought of asking for a loan. I just presumed they would just lend money for important things like washing machines, car repairs. I am using the credit union as both banks in our nearest town closed recently.

I wouldn't mention it any longer, some jealous and vindictive person or people have it in for anyone daring to mention MB on this thread. You'd think we were advising something illegal like selling drugs! I thought this was a forum for boosting one's income. Sorry to anyone expecting a PM. Sad that so many will lose out. I found out far more info from a forum where you might make money from a garden building. Sorry to be cryptic, but you cannot speak openly in such an unfriendly place. There you can.

I hope you can find the guidance you need, we all need pointers on this journey so that we aren't taken advantage of. I was genuinely trying to help others as I have been helped enormously from this forum, as you can see from my signature. But sadly this forum is not what it was a few years ago. I shan't add any more comments. Good luck Poohbear on your journey. Over and out.

Sorry to hear someone complained. I think it should be perfectly fine to mention matched betting here, even though it's got its own section. Like you say, this is the "Boost Your Income" area, and it can do that significantly, if you do it right.

Anyway, here's hoping you come back, Wizzbang. Your input's very useful and much appreciated, as your forum stats show, so don't let one or two people put you off.

I have had loans for holidays in the past from a credit union. I know you will pay a bit of interest but it is nothing compared to other lenders. If you don't need it then don't do it for the sake of it, but it might be an option if you are almost there but not quite x

Thank you beckytravis, I might need it if we don't make a lot on surveys and eBay. It is good to know we have a back up.

We have had a few cold days around 10C but we have decided not to put the heating on to save money. Instead Mr P lit the wood burner a couple of evenings. We have a lot of scavenged wood to burn.

DS2 has not been so good for a while again. Money concerns don't help. But the knowledge that his ESA is now in should help I hope.

We had two new bookings for the cottage on Friday night, very late.
One is for a week at New Year and one for August.:j

I need to do some calculations but hope it is now enough to cover cottage bills and to pay to have some maintenance done. Mr P has his scan on Monday and that will tell us more about his shoulder. He can't get up high to do jobs and we no longer have scaffolding etc. It is a job DS2 can't do.

Wizzbang, I am sorry someone has complained. I know you were trying to help too. :)

I am hoping I can make as much in July as I did in June. I need to chase the Scottish power cheque.
