Advice on family moving in

As a secure tenant at a well known housing association, can they really kick me out without me doing any major wrong doing?!
i didnt know this.
I am happy to show all bank statements to anyone.
Im completely legal here....0 -
Oh well, that's alright then. You're lucky that your HA employs a receptionist who is fully conversant with all the rules/regulations surrounding a tenancy.I phoned my landlord anonymously and the receptionist said as long as im paying full rent with no benefits and its still my primary residence that its ok.
Don't forget, as well as you paying for 4 extra people to live in your house, you will also lose your single person occupancy discount.0 -
The family that are coming to live with me have there stuff registered at their old residence which the person who kicked them out is still happy for there letters to stay there.
Really wouldn't have thought that was a good idea... identity theft concerns, as well as legal ones (driving license?), and stuff may just get filed in the bin. Are they really going to pass it all on? Unlikely.
If they are later in a position to rent somewhere, you may be asked to be a guarantor. Lots about that on this board so have a search if it comes up, but the general consensus is don't touch it with a bargepole.

Why would they want their post sent to a house that they've been kicked out of? Are they not intending to declare that they are living with you?0

The whole plan is bonkers.....0

Thanks for all of your advice.
I just wanted to post here to see what others thought. They have been refused once before for social housing as they were "adequate" not to need it where they currently where and that if they "left" were they have been kicked out of they wouldnt get help.
So they are pickled unless they come to live with me for a bit.
Do you know why they were 'kicked out'? - At that point they should have approached the Council as homeless. Perhaps they did and did not qualify as statutorily homeless.
Are you having them stay with you so that they can save a deposit and rent somewhere privately? Or because you/they think there is a greater chance of them getting social housing if they are staying with you? If the latter then this will not happen - whatever reason they didn't get accepted as homeless when they were 'kicked out' will still prevail.
I would urge you to speak to your Housing Officer (not a receptionist) and find out for definite whether they can stay. I think you know the answer is likely to be no which is why you have not done so yet.0 -
I cant see their being a problem, i rent the place with no benefits why shouldnt i be entitled to have whomever i want stay here?0
-
I agree that you are doing them no favours if they are homeless they should be sat in the council offices and/or talking to http://www.shelter.org.uk/
You are doing them and you no favours long term here honestly, the debate over guests or not is pointless the end goal is to get them somewhere warm and safe for the long haul and that does mean a bit of pain in the short term to achieve. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -
The intention, whilst well meaning is misguided IMO.0

As they have been evicted and have children, should the LA not be assisting them immediately?0
