    HI All,

My pad for today is £17 please Jet. My last pay cheque as I'll be redundant in the next 2 weeks :eek::eek:

Erme - I too have MH issues, and it has really devastated any chances that I have had about being debt free over the years :( & then that makes my debt spiral even more, as I have spending sprees when I am having a depressive episode. But I have learnt to just take each day as it comes, and walk around using cash as much as I can, as online spending and balance transfers within the last 10 months, has contributed to about £7,000 of my debt. And realising that after 11 years on continual employment, I am leaving with debts of the same amount of my redundancy... that has been a sobering eye opener. But this forum and the 1% debt repayments thread has really helped.

I can't undo the debts, or forget the anxiety and depression that caused most of it, but I can slowly accept that I have these problems and take little steps to coping better. We can't budget in some respects, as it requires a consistency of mood and mindset to stick to it. So I think the aim is not to be too restrictive about budgets, but to be more aware of what triggers the relationship between MH and money.
    xx

Och yeah I totally get you but at least you are trying. I know of someone with psychological problems who is getting into more and more debt (even got a 2nd mortgage on his flat) and is waiting for 'rescue' - then says he's so intelligent he doesn't 'need a budget'. I also got a very insensitive friend tell me when in debt that I needed someone to 'take over my finances for me so I would just have a little each week to spend' - well a DMP (debt management program) can do that (mine was a mini disaster!) but I tried that and really didn't find it helpful.

As my church friends many years ago said - 'baby steps for any form of recovery in mental health' - even if it's 1 step forward, 2 back. (or whatever it is? Dumb me)

Still in semi spend mode :P.....Not helped by therapist telling me I needed to save x by y - then going online and finding he was £200 short! thud.gif?w=58

Yes we get summer breaks. We get a week at Christmas and a weeks at Easter too. Not half terms though so it's a bit harder when the kids are off at that time but not too bad to work around it.
It's never too late if you really wanted to learn I don't think!

kirtsypoo- Well done on the loan! Do you know how much the intrest will be so that you can blitz it?

Thanks W-A-S, I struggle to calculate how Natwest add the interest to the loan but I think I'll have around £60 to pay so I've kept £80 aside and will get that paid as soon as I know the amount :D

    Hi All,

Hope you're all enjoying the nice weather :).

Kirstypoos - congratulations on the loan repayment, I know that you must be feeling amazing right now :j:T:j:T. It's so exciting when you achieve something so big.

Erme - it's really hard, and every day is a struggle. I still spend way more than I should do, but I have been trying to find cheaper alternatives to things. I've seen the speed in which my debts are going down through being a PADington member, nearly £900 cleared since the beginning of the month. I had a few people pay me back from little loans and instead of spending it, I paid my debts so that I could declare my pads :). But the days when I don't feel stable enough to be in charge of my finances, I just accept them and if I have overspent, I just try not to get too upset about it. I have set up a basic bank account, as it has no monthly fees or overdraft facility. So I cannot get stung that way. And my sisters can tell when I'm starting to slip, and they question me or try and talk me out of big expenses. I wouldn't be able to follow a debt management plan, so I have not even considered it as an option. When I feel too restricted, my mood spirals and I will end up boosting my mood through shopping or going out to restaurants etc.

Jet9cat - my PAD for today is £100 to reduce the overdraft.

    Keedie,
    xx

    Morning bears

Hugs to people struggling ATM for whatever reason. Money worries and poor mental health go hand-in-hand too often. Being able to explain how you're feeling on here really can help. Nobody judges, which is fab xxx

£20 to DH's CC today. He took Small to see The BFG yesterday evening and sensibly booked tickets in advance, so had to use his card. I'll let him off this time ;)

Have a lovely Sunday all x
