I was unable to even download the Win 10 ISO - I reached 99 % and an error message appeared "0x80070422-0xA0019"

    One last question :
Will the bootable USB stick allow me to boot up "ANY" Win 10 system (as long as the boot order is set in the BIOS to suit) ?
ie) I understand that Win 10 home and Win 10 Pro come on the same MSI) ....

You can use the ISO to do a clean installation. When prompted for the product key, enter your Windows 7/8 one.

I did this recently just to make sure I grabbed the free upgrade in case I want to use Windows 10 in future.

Have they changed anything regarding this?
I thought that originally, once Win 10 was activated on the MS server after you had done an in-place upgrade/clean install and after a month if you hadn't rolled back, your previous Win 7/8 key was made null.

I've got an ISO copy of Win 10 - I have a MSDN license and can download any version of windows whenever I like.

I might just download Windows 3.1 and create a VM of it for a laugh

I have Win 95 on a vm, but haven't yet managed to get it to connect to the internet. :)
    Move along, nothing to see.

I have been installing both Windows 10 and Windows 7 (Pro) on the same computer since Win 10 came out. On every installation my original Win 7 product key has always been accepted without question. It does not matter whether I install the 32 bit version or 64 bit version of Win 10; the product key is always accepted.

My experience is that the Win 7 key has never been made null. It allows me to install Win 7 or Win 10, 32 bit or 64 bit, any time, whether upgrading via Win 7 or doing a clean install.

Not as far as I'm aware. The W7/8 keys aren't cancelled. The only thing you lose 30-days after an in-place upgrade is the ability to do an in-place downgrade to the previous OS.

So a rebuild using Win 7 will always be possible - just not a "downgrade / restore" after 30 days ?

OK - Tried the USB image (RUFUS) and found that, on booting on it - it asks for a windows key, which, whilst I do have, confuses me - since it "should" automatically pick up and install ?
    What's going on ?
I have obtained the GenuineTicket.xml file
but am unsure what, exactly I am supposed to do with it !!!

You should stop for now. I'm busy travelling and you seem to have no oidea of what you are doing. So stop.. Proceed with replying to my PM.
