  • It's been a bit of a wasted day today. I have felt totally drained, absolutely no energy whatsoever. I think I need to learn to pace myself and stop throwing myself headfirst at full speed into things. I do feel frustrated that I haven't achieved plans but I need to listen to my body occasionally.

I have £20.95 left in my purse and get paid on Friday so have taken the last bit of money from my current account and have paid it towards debt. The purse money has to last now. I only need tuck shop money and some bread later this week. Actually I have bread flour and yeast.....scrap the bread. If any is left, off the debt it goes.

Right a bit of tidying before bed.

Hope you have a good week.:)

    Thanks cherryfudge

Morning diary. I would says good morning but getting to bed after midnight and up again at 4.45 doesn't put me in the most chipper of moods. Anyone seen my bed?

I have a few things to get sorted this week.

Ring around for another tree surgeon as the one that came out a week last Saturday can't seem to be bothered to get back to me with a price. If he didn't want the job I wish he would have just said so.

    Bay roof fixed this week.

Complete October budget. This needs to include some spending money for our summer holiday..........a week in a caravan in Buxton. No sunbathing for me then. I've not visited before but it just doesn't seem to be sparking a holiday vibe at the moment. Tahiti would be nice.;)

More sorting, chucking and recycling. After my reading glut I have realised just how much stuff I have which i don't need. How minimalistic could I be? Oh goodness I would hate to live in a big white room with a toothbrush and one chair, but less stuff is feeling nice.

Searching house for stuff to sell and throw at debt.

Sort house insurance for October renewal. Shop around for best deal and look for cash back.

    KEEP washing up to date.

Get some speed screening for an open bit on my garden. It overlooks to another garden which basically is a rubbish dump, with a broken down fence which the teens are now using as a hangout. Something else to get sorted. A call to the council will be needed I think. It needs nipping in the bud. Goodness I sound like Victor Meldrew.:rotfl:

Searching the house and see what DIY jobs I can do myself before paying someone else to do it. I'm quite handy but do a lot of procrastinating and worrying before I get on with something. It took me ages to plumb in my kitchen and bathroom but I did it and 15 years later it's all still fine. Not pretty, but fine.;)

Pay more off debt, especially Friday (payday :j).

Meal plan from the cupboards. This area has slipped drastically and I want to be organised again. A new meal planner chart is needed I think. It used to work brilliantly. Plus I would like to eat through some stuff before the next shop.

As I'm away half term I'm going to set myself a mini challenge of the whole of the downstairs of the house being completely decluttered and organised by then. That will leave me a few weeks on the run up to christmas to finish the rest. This includes the cellar . Thank goodness I don't have anything in the loft. :T I think the charity shop will be seeing a lot of me for the next four weeks.

    This should keep me busy.

    Have a great day all.

Yes, I'm really annoyed. I guess I need to start the process all over again.

Thanks HairyHandofDartmoor. I've been decluttering forever. It has to be finished by December of I'm going to have to punish myself.:rotfl: To be honest simple plumbing isn't too hard once you've got your head around it. I wish I could plaster instead.

    Me too.

Not good about the tree surgeon. I hope you find a better one soon.

Being able to do plumbing is amazing and I too would like to be able to plaster, especially as we have just found a rather drastic damp patch where we've never had the slightest trouble before. :( Have you noticed than if you say you can't plaster, people automatically assume you can ice a cake? 'There's nothing to it,' they say. 'If you can ice a cake...' Why do they assume I can do that? Do I have a cake icing expression on my face? If it were baking a cake that magicked one to be able to ice, I'd be fine, but somehow it's assumed that because I'm female, I can ice, and therefore turn my inherent feminine icing talent to plastering. No.

Where was I before I started rambling? Ah yes. I was going to say your nicely defined, purposeful lists are inspiring, as is your progress on decluttering. I have so far to go but I continue to follow with interest!

Hope you sleep a lot better tonight.

I can't ice a cake either Cherryfudge, apart from those spiky ones you had to make at secondary school.:rotfl:

A bit of a funny night last night. Up until about two years ago I used to do the snowball calculator on whatsthecost, but for some strange reason I got annoyed with it one night and just deleted it. Anyway lasnight it just popped into my head so I completed it with all my new figures, got an attitude of if I can double my wages ...and went to bed happy. Then I woke up this morning with an oh my goodness moment and the thought of doubling wages being almost impossible. There's something about me and mornings. After a few minutes I realised that doubling the wages and paying it off in one year would be nice but it's putting a hell of a lot of unnecessary pressure on myself again. I realised if I didn't reach the monthly goal I would become disappointed again. So this morning the monthly figure will go back to a sensible one and it will give me something to be competitive about trying to beat it. Anyway my morning car journey gave me some thinking space and I have come to the following conclutions.

Attitude. At this level of debt previously I did the whole sack cloth and ashes thing. Truly sorry for myself. I was covering minimum payments but with hardly anything left over. I wandered about like a hobo and had a very low opinion of myself and the situation. One thing reading diaries on here is that people can pay off debt and still have a life. I have always been so hard on myself and cut my budgets to the bone to put more at debt, resulting in failure as I have no life. First thing I need to do is get a realistic budget.

Secondly having a partner and being married has turned me into a wussy. I don't know why as I have always been quite handy and have done many of the household repairs and upgrades myself In the past. I don't know where the change of attitude came from as my husband is completely useless with practical things and come the revolution or apocalypse he will be stuffed without me.:rotfl: you should see his painting....oh my word, what a mess. He does try but it's awful. Anyway my wussyness has increased with him being here. Fourteen years ago when I had a leak in the bay roof I fixed it. It has lasted fourteen years so it must have been an ok job. So why then have i automatically jumped to finding a roofer because it's leaking again without trying to fix it myself. Tomorrow I'm going to get the stuff and sort the roof. I even have vouchers to pay for the stuff needed.:) The funny thing is the lifestyle I crave involves being self sufficient and doing jobs myself. I do actually enjoy it...strange I know.

So from this point onwards I need to start to drop the sack cloth and ashes routine, the poor me I'm in debt so have to sit about until it's paid off attitude and start living a proper life while paying of debt. If it takes a little longer then so be it but I need to live too. Anyway the challenge of living a good frugal life has always been something I enjoy.

The christmas challenge stays put though and if I can increase my income then all the better.

    Have a fab day everyone.
