  • You don't have to be unemployed to access pips. I have worked with people in full time employment who receive it. Apply today as it can take a while to come through. Also, we tend to be a proud bunch on here sharing more than we would in real life. Maybe it's time to tell nearest and dearest what your challenges are. When my friend was having a nightmare with cancer treatment, I wished there was something I could do to help but she wouldn't have it. I felt like a !!!! friend. Maybe there are others who could pitch in.

  • I agree with the other posters. MacMillian are an excellent charity and they will be able to help with the financial situation. They even have grants. Secondly, INOD is right apply for PIP. It is not means tested so being in work is not an issue. Claim what you need to. THAT IS WHY THESE THINGS EXISTS.

Take care of yourself. Do what you can when you can re home organisation/cleaning and prioritise keeping things clean. The rest can wait. It can!

Use your 'starting a fight in a pub' energy to get what you need so you can take care of yourself.

    Sending a hug x

  • Am sending you big hugs and positivity PH, you have the inner strength to deal with this and you will get to the other side.

When I was poorly I drew up a list of jobs which "were doing my head in" and I asked my friends to do one for me. No one judged me or refused, funnily enough I have a friend who adores "sorting sh*t out" and another who adores vacuuming (whaaaaat!!) and another who loved washing windows. I shared that I was overwhlemed and whizz bang whallop I had a taskforce all sorted to get me thorugh the toughest times.

My friends subsequently told me they were glad to be of practical help rather than standing there wringing their hands. I did them a kitchen supper and cocktails as a thank you and "s0d off cancer" and we laughed like drains.

Definitely explore PIP and McMillan (they were such a phenomenal support to me) and see what help you can get at this difficult time.

Keep celebrating the little wins every single day and continue to be kind to yourself.

    ((big hugs))

    WM xx

I'm sorry to hear about your cat, Parsnip. :( A tough day in the middle of a lot of tough days. :(

I have no experience of PIPs but it sounds as though you would be eligible and as has been said, that's what the system is for. Ditto Macmillan nurses.

Re: decluttering, I know from experience that having just one nice clean, clear surface can make you feel better, and keeping one place under control can spread to others (when you have the energy). Meanwhile looking after yourself is the main thing, so try not to overdo it... easier said than done xx

  • Sorry about your cat Parsnip :(.

I understand why you're worried about money. You've had some great advice about benefits so hopefully you should be eligible. Money is the last thing you want to worry about at a time like this :(.

Good luck with the de-cluttering but don't overdo it!

  • So sorry about the cat, and your money wobbles. Hope you can find some good advice.

Is it worth appealing to your employer? We sometimes did discretionary payments for cancer sufferers, and I know a few west mids public sector places do. Are you in the local government pension scheme too?

    Morning all.

    Thanks for the condolences on the p u s s y ( a bit Mrs Slocombe there).

I'm feeling a bit more energetic this morning so have been pottering and doing bits of housework. I even wiped some skirting. The blaring music is helping though. Mind you with the amount of cobwebs the house looks very halloween. I could be at it for a,long, long time.

I'm just going to pop to the local cancer charity place to see the wig woman then pop back to do some more. I say some strange things lately.

If I can see a difference by picking up from school time I will be happy.

Have a fab day all and enjoy the sun if you have it.

  • Oooh, Parsniphead is around.

You may just be catching up on diaries and maybe you are not up to posting. But I would love to hear how things are going for you when you are ready. I think of you (and hope you are doing well) strangely often considering I don't know you in RL

Hope you are not being too hard on yourself :)
