Pennysaver done.
Paid off my cashback credit card shows I have earned 89p cashback over the last 14 days I have a modest aim of a minimum of £30 PA which would cover my road tax.
Dods can finally see the point of me playing with pennies. It's the same with the penny saver, he knew I was doing it but didn't bat an eyelid, until I pointed out there is over £50 in two weeks that he didn't take any notice of, where if I had withdrawn £50 in a lump sum he would have probably asked why.
It's that old adage take care of the pennies the pounds take care of themselves
Plus it keeping me occupied until payday.
On the downside i've been a muppet with the loan I couldn't get the numbers to add up so dragged the paperwork out soon realised that I haven't added the interest and we didn't make the first payment til the second month after the loan started making it £683 more than I thought, not really a biggy I owe them shed loads so it's just shed loads and a bit more.0 -
Pennysaver done
Early shift today with split days off this week think im going to wind down a bit of the overtime after next week as im getting behind with jobs at home. It's a beautiful evening but im too shattered to even entertain the idea of going out so there has to be a balance.0 -
Hi reading your diary with interest and enjoying finding out how you're cutting your debts.
Can you explain the penny saver to me please?
Lou0 -
Hi Lou
The penny saver is just a smaller take on the pound a week challenge you start by putting a penny away on day one a tuppence on day two and so on by the end of the year you will have saved £667.95.
I started it in reverse so £3.65...£3.64 etc etc I haven't had an emergency fund so this seemed a good place for me to start, a pound a week is too rich for me at the moment
Plan to start another one around November time starting with a penny that will cover the cost of the following Christmas or better still maybe a little winter sun

Penny saver done
Grumbling in this house as im evicting everyones junk out of the living areas.
digging round the cupboards turned out a load of random food stuffs purchased but never used so attempts will be made to use this up over the next few weeks, so will have to hit up the old style board for some inspiration.
Focaccia style pizza bread in the slowcooker to use up some fridge odds and ends other than a loaf of fresh bread im refusing to pick-up any more shopping till Friday and try and stretch the shopping to every 8/9 days rather than 7 without the cost rising. I did try a month shop for a while the first 2 weeks we ate like kings last two like paupers and soon ended up with expensive weekly tops up in the last few weeks, well you live and learn.0 -
It's always worthwhile trying to switch it up, like you save you never really know what works for you.
Switch it back rather than having it work out like that though, I find it better to shop each week.
I need to have a clear out, clutter is starting to build up again.

Thank you Try Harder
Lou I online transfer it each morning from one account to an old saving account that was gathering dust. I daresay I would end up with a pot full of IOU's as it's rare that I carry cash nowadays, some find it better to deal with cash but personally I find my debit card was better for me, makes our lad at home take a lunch to college/work as there is rarely any point in asking mum to borrow a few pound anymore

Last of my early shifts, I so wish I could rota on the early's full time.
Found out this morning that my work shoes are no longer waterproof, so had soggy feet for 8hrs, it's a bone of contention with me as warehouse and drivers get work boots paid for, I have to pull in delivery along side the warehouse and have to supply my own which I think is unfair as the work is hard on shoes, Im suppose to wear black shoes but have a pair of grey and purple walking boots barely used so im going to wear them rather than spend another £30 that's half a shifts wage! if it's an issue they can supply me some new ones.
Im in a bit of a cantankerous mood
had a bit of a vanity moment i've been growing out my blonde hi-lights finally conceded to the grey had this great Idea that I would hurry things along and dye the blonde grey to match my roots, hasn't worked the blonde is now blonder and the grey is now greyer :rotfl: tempted to shave it off and start again.
Feel's like it's been such a long month..roll on Friday0
