I'm also waiting for payday. It's 2 weeks away and I'll be on holiday when I get paid. Luckily we have internet in our hotel so I shall be paying my debts and budgeting!

Least your be paying your debt with a mojito in hand Louby, relax and have a great time xx

Making the most of the fantastic weather if it's not nailed down it been washed and out on the line and washed the living space carpet and cleaned the wood stove ready for the chap to come and clean the wood stove :rotfl:

Another £14 off the 100 day challenge and the loan gone out for the month.
The re-hash of the figures barring disaster see the credit cards cleared by November but decided in not starting the overpayments on the loan until the January as planned so there will be no risk of any debt over the Christmas period.

  • Hi Tori, I read your diary, found it really helpful. You do seem to have this all organised. its really good and comforting to know that other people get impatient too. I have found it hardest just before payday, but I suppose that's just how it is till we are debt free. It will be march before you know it. xx

Thanks PSL it my naff shift pattern helps because it doesn't leave us any time for a social life at the moment so may as well just pay off the debt :rotfl:

Im very lucky that I have a partner that's fully on board and we live off his income so my earnings will move from debt repayment to savings once clear.

I guess we just hit that age in life where we realised how simple our needs & wants actually are and it's stress free time that we both crave. the less possessions & obligations we have the more free time we enjoy.

    Grocery round-up

    26.06.16-25.07.16 ...£210.83

    So £52.70 PW
The cashback credit card seems to be working out OK only small annoyance is the 3 days it take's from paying off for them to take the money from my bank account as I clear it each time I use it, I have now made £4.11 cashback so should make The £30 PA I want by the end of the year, which would cover my road tax. at the moment it seems a lot of hassle for £30 but it should run more smoothly once the debt is cleared as I will just let the payment in full DD kick in.

Foodwise It's all about the salads this week (no order)

Broccoli, apple and walnut & lemon dressing
Broccoli grape & cucumber & lemon dressing
    Veggie Olivye (potato salad)
    Cucumber, red pepper& feta
    greek salad with lemon dressing
    Pasta and avocado caesar
served with either jacket spud, some sort of quorn stuff, or pitta margherita pizza.

    A cheap week for shopping

I love salad, Dods not so much but he can suck it up :D

I desperately need to find a new job, back to my normal shift patterns so working every weekend is on the cards until at least September.

Having a bit of a dilemma what's best to do about the remaining credit cards, we currently have 5 cards on the go.

Although we have no plans for further credit there may be a small chance we would be looking for a very small mortgage at some point altho not in the next 10years when we do our final downsize to our last home.

so unsure from a credit score point of view if it would be better to keep the cards in play to show we are responsible users or just shut them down and just keep the cashback card.

Been a really cheap week on the shopping side veg in abundance at such a cheap price so i've been making the most, lidl had red peppers for sale at 29p so brought loads and have a bag full in the freezer for later in the year, also got a wonky veg box, veg was fine but I could have picked up the contents for the same price normally really so don't think it's very encouraging on the food waste front.

As usual the weather is against me as I wanted a day in the Garden after being shut up in a supermarket all weekend.

So a day in the kitchen with plenty of tea breaks.
still have a massive amount of veg to prep for the week meals.
Currently have milk in the slowcooker for this week's greek yogurt, butternut squash slow roasting in the oven to make bread with two trays of garlic croutons drying out made from half a loaf of bread I picked up for 5p a bonus as I rarely get the bargains, the other half been blitzed into breadcrumbs to make a bread pudding for Dods desert for the next few days.

yellow onions have been sliced and frozen I had a pointed cabbage in the wonkey box so having a go at a veggie version of cabbage galette using a couple of veggie sausages instead of the bacon.

I have a lot of carrots to use up im not fond of the texture once frozen so will try making a cranks carrot cake and freezing that that leaves me leeks and spuds so soup it is. a really cheap week shopping wise

Most of my life seems to revolve around food at the moment, cooking is definitely a necessary evil.

min payment went out on the HSBC by payday it will be under 1K :j finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with the cards.

Note to self I REALLY MUST TAKE NOTE OF DATES The only exercise i've done the last two months is run out of money :o

Dods payday is wednesday so least I am getting better at it :rotfl: and we don't need anything as i've already done the weeks shopping, most of the DD are on set dates but a few that are every 28/31 days and as much as I have other money set aside for other things we decided we'd stick to the set the budget barring proper emergencies so when it's gone it's gone, we are pretty much living to our eventual planned retirement buget but currently still have the housing cost which if all goes to plan we won't have when we actually retire.

Dods is now getting more involved, TBH his contribution up to now has been pretty much just been not spending :rotfl: I think folding the business and going into paid employment affected him more than he let on, we both decided that starting another business would take more energy and time than we would wish to give but the idea of purchasing our final home is a project that has ignited his interest, it's still to far away for me to give much thought too I just want to get this year over with. but he's the happiest I've seen him in a while which is great.

Payday is on Friday have checked the budget to make sure everything is on track for me to make the over payments this month, I have found that little and often really seems to work for me, my budget is a now a month ahead of itself some things like car insurance and tax is already paid annually, the council tax and utilities are budgeted for the month it's time that I started saving a alongside to cover the annual cost of these.

    The future debt
    Council tax £1600
    Electric £800
    Water £600
    Smart £800
    Netflix £100
    Phone £500
    Mobile £240
    Evo £50
    Travel £1500 Total £6190

Everything is rounded up quite a bit in some cases, These are just my DD and luxuries so not saving basic needs food & clothing etc as the luxuries would be cut to the money to fund these if in dire need.

to not put to much pressure on the budget on starting with the smallest cost DH magazine subscription and I will work through my list, with luck I should be may be able to make a small amount of interest on a regular saver.
