Do people wear all three rings together? Which order on the finger? Isn't it uncomfortable?

Some people wear them together, some don't, it depends on the person and the rings. Some are desgined as a set and are physically made to interlock.

I wear mine together in the order: engagement, wedding, eternity. They are comfortable as they all narrow bands, and combined they aren't much wider than many people's wedding ring. The only time I found it awkward was when I first got my engagement ring. I wasn't used to wearing a ring at all and although it wasn't uncomfortable I was very aware of it, and I used to catch it on things (e.g. if I put my hand in my pocket) but adding the others to it later wasn't an issue.

Whereas my sister stopped wearing her engagement ring once she got married, because her engagement ring was quite big, and didn't really fit with her wedding band.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.
  • :o I've been married for 12 years and still haven't got one!! i think he's still hoping it's all been a horrible dream!!!

Hubby and I used to joke about him holding out a box with the expensive eternity ring in it at the end of the labour suite bed shouting "PUSH! C'mon now, you know you want this ring..." ;)

    'K, I'll get my coat...

(For the record, married nearly 9 years, 2 kids and no sign of an eternity ring, but I'm not much of a jewellery person anway!)

  • I'm supposed to be engaged, well I have a ring, but we'll never get married.

I had our first child in the summer all planned and everything and no eternity ring.

Even though I had spent the previous 2/3 years while discussing children that you should have one when your first child is born.

I am still heartbroken about it, sounds silly but I am.

It doesn't help that BIL and SIL who are married are expecting there first and BIL has already ordered hers!!! Oh well I suppose I should just get over it but at the minute I'm finding it hard to do!!
  • I got my eternity ring after my second daughter was born.
Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have. :)

The tradition is after the birth of the first child - for some it is the birth of the first SON!!! Really just a reward for 'good behaviour' - something one would give one's chattle really.

HOwever, it it 2007, the world has changed, and I would guess the giving of an eternity ring is optional - and certainly NOT something to sulk over if you don't get one.

Remember, though, that many men give eternity rings because they feel they have to, and not because they want to. Makes the gesture utterly meaningless.

They're just symbols of love - not a demonstration of love. That should happen every day, and costs far-far-far more than any ring could cost.
